Two old fat dudes here, doing this years 1000. Our race monies are in, bike prep has started and race time has been scheduled off. We are short on monies and one or two additional fat dudes. Prior race experience not required, bike skills a must.

We may be old and fat but at least we are slow.

Let me try this again. My definition of "Bike Skills" is as follows:

Competent rider; ability to easily navigate and pass through obstacles; ability to ride whoops, rocks, sand and avoid speeding trucks. Ability to ride long distances without O2 support. Ability to think and diagnose bike problems. Ability to think. Wrist control. We don’t want to crash out, we want to finish. Ability to think. Ability to drink large quantities of beer is a plus but not mandatory (after the race). We want to finish. We want to have fun. We want to have a safe race.
Race bike is a 525 EXC. Bike prep is not part of shared costs except for tires, mousse, chain, sprockets, oil and fluids.
Estimated race costs to be shared include entry fees, pit support, above bike stuff, chase gas, tracking fees and communication costs. Approximately 5k.
I’m closer to 60 than 50 and my brother-in-law is over 50. This will be my 6th Score race. We want to finish and have fun.
If I had to describe a profile of what I am looking for it would be as follows:
    Over 40
Riding for 10 years or more
    Some Baja experience
    Desire to have fun
    Decent degree of fitness
We plan on camping at Estero Beach the days prior to the race. We have several chase vehicles and volunteers lined up (both have extensive Baja and Baja race experience). We will probably do some prerunning in late October. Both of us have lived in So Cal nearly all of our lives and can jump down south relatively easy. We will be at the drawing this weekend (my first) and will probably be hanging out with the Race for the Wounded guys (several of the Arizona guys are friends). We are entered as sportsman over 450. The linked website has both my name and phone number.
