Bala is in hospital in intensive care/post-op recovery after having a triple by-pass.

However things are not going well and Bala is in a lot of trouble. Whatever your connections are to the Big Man a few thoughts and prayers would go real well at the moment, Bala is needing every one of them.

A lot of people here will know him and have had the pleasure of his company - he was one of the first people I met after buying Ms Piggy and I was struck by his infectious and outgoing personality. He is a natural comedian and his self deprecating humour has many around him rolling around laughing.

At the moment only family members are allowed to visit and he may still be in an induced coma.

I hope very much that he pulls through this.

    Buggar:cry

He certainly is one of the funniest men I have had the pleasure of meeting.
Listening to him telling about his trip through eastern Europe had me in tears of laughter.

I'm not religious (RC= retired catholic) but have some influential family with good connections to JC and will ask them to put in a good word for Bala.

Fingers crossed that he pulls through.
I kept telling him to bloody well ease off those Vinadloo's:wink:

Jock Adams (OldOzy) wanted someone to post this here:

I would really like someone to please post up how sad i feel about Bala , i consider him a good friend and knowing he is fighting for his life saddens me . these are the times that being locked out from your community hurt the most.

    From Facebook.

    Cheers, Bala. Be strong.

Don't know the man from a crow - and from what's been said here, that sounds like my loss - he seems to be my kind of people.
No bloody point in talking to JC - I'm guessing that Bala's probably a Hindu or Bhuddist? So better hug a cow and get busy with the bells.
I'm sure he's getting the best care available and pretty soon he'll be telling people it only hurts when he laughs.
    Best wishes from this side.

I'm following Bala's progress on the email group JV.

Belinda and I are sending all our thoughts and prayers for a full recovery.

I've spent a cold night around a camp-fire with Bala and a few others, knocking over more than a few beers and listening to his tales of travels.
Plenty of mirth and absolutely no thought given to a very chilly mountain air atmosphere, it took a long time for us all to disperse to our assorted tents that night.

He is popular at the monthly pre meeting dinners at the pub as well.

Thanks John, for spreading the word to the wider riding community who may also know and ride with Bala.

    Regards,
    Ock. [aka Ockerstrom, aka Steve]

Will do mate. Paul E from the club is in contact and visits him. His mum and sister are constantly with him - his mum is a surgeon too, I understand.

First of all he has to get over this hump. Then look at his options, which either way will include a long road to recovery...

Be good if people could post pix of him, keep the humour up. It is certainly down at the moment

    That's very worrying news.

Only met Bala once at a TTT, although I have always enjoyed reading his occasional posts and threads on here. As others have said, a friendly, funny, self-deprecating guy.

I join all others here in offering my best wishes and hopes for a full and speedy recovery, with worrying news turning to good news.

The only man I know who was able to wrestle a Tiger to the ground and come out relatively unscathed. (Triumph Tiger that is) Sharing a beer and a cigar is a great evening activity when Bala is there to liven up the proceedings.

Sorry to hear of the setback. All the best Bala hope to see you well again soon.

Only ever had dealings with him through this forum - nevertheless could tell immediately what a great bloke he is - big shock. Here's to a full recovery and hope he is back on two wheels asap.
