Yeah, it would be a nice ride, but not well suited for smaller DS bikes. Plus it would burn up 4-5 hours to get to and from BESF that could be better spent on dirt.

I've gotta side with Skyclad on this one. I don't think I'd be riding any "A" class enduro bikes from Wellsboro to the Shade Mountain or Seven Mountains trail system. But...to each their own. There's definitely some nice riding there and back.

Rode my V strom from the house a while back, went into Tioga State Forest and ended up in BESF. Did not do much exploring, but found some single track off of rt,322, then I rode gravel east just south of rt45 for maybe 30 miles. Good time, like to bring the dual sport down to see what the BESF has to offer.

Hey jms78, you missed a good time at the skidmarks camp out, good food and great riding.

Were not really riding race bikes, a XR650 and a wr250

I would have liked to do the Skidmarks ride but riding isn't my only hobby and there are so many days in my weekend. I did the Lawton 100 yesterday which was okay but not spectacular. I'd guess it was only about 10 to 15 miles of single track without running the numbers.

Durty Dabbers and the Seven Mountains campout were the two best rides of the summer for me. The whole Bald Eagle area is a great place to ride I just wish I lived closer. I suspect you can find a trail to give the XR a workout. Maybe one of the Bastards can give you the grand (and rocky) tour.

Yikes, I just goose bumps on the back of my neck when you said there's more to life then riding motorcycle's, :lol3:lol3

I did Lawton last year, I know what your saying.

Heard there's a lot of good riding in BESF, would have liked to have gone to there rally in august, but we just got back from doing the CDR and I did not even what to see a motorcycle for a while.

You going to the Monkey Butt 100 this weekend?

Don't forget about the Sproul State Forest which is to the Southeast of Wellsboro and northwest of BESF. I don't know about single-track but plenty of dirt/gravel roads. I think the Durty Dabbers use some of Sproul for their DS ride.

If I'm not mistaken, I think most of the Sproul trails are off limits for bikes except for the DD ride.

I probably won't make the MB ride. I've got a fundraiser (paved) ride for my wife's work on Saturday and family in town I should visit on Sunday.

Thanks Sootac, Rode Through SSF, went up to Hyner over look, Don't recall the name of the road I took. When I left the over look, I made the first right, went to the T, went right, went one mile , turned left on to some trail rd, that was a nice down hill rocky trail, That's the kind of riding I enjoy and will be searching for when we come down in a couple weeks.

Thanks all for the information on were to ride. Your lucky to have so many miles of Forest roads to enjoy, been there a few times this past summer. Looks like I'll spend a few days at Seven Mountains to get mt fill of single track before the snow fly's.

For those who love riding the Bald Eagle DS network...

Remember that hunting season is coming up quickly. Please do your part to keep the trails open by respecting the hunters during their time. Keep groups small. Quieter is better. Riding on Sunday when there is no hunting is also good. Thanks for your time.

We started marking the dual sport system purple and the eastern sections will be finished this week. The system will be re-blazed and signed before the trails open for winter riding. The new 8 mile section of trail on Sand Mnt. and Old Burn Trail may not be opened by then though because the contractor has an extension on the project. We will post the new section open when it is complete. <u5:p></u5:p><o:p></o:p>

    Denny,

Thanks for posting the schedule. I had not seen that there was going to be closures. Kind of a bummer, since that means the trails will be closed during prime leaf peeping season.:cry

However, there ain't nothing that says one cannot go hiking.:clap
