Anyone have GPS tracks for the 7 mountains ramble dual sport loop in Bald Eagle State Forest In PA. The forest has a map, but the last time I tried to follow the blazes I had a rough time. Anyone with tracks they could share?

Just stumbled onto this forum. I have all of the seven mountains area on GPS. Worth noting that the some of the western single track around "old burn" has been changed slightly. Very, very new to the forum, what's the best way to get you the files. Also, I live very close to the area and ride it quite often if you want a tour guide.

Sent. Hope they help. Trail markings are getting better, but they can still be hard to find.

Perfect timing for this thread, I am heading up that way in August with some friends. Never been but have heard its great riding.
GreyGhost; PM sent about track files.

I have a PDF of the State Forrest trails; we are looking at riding some light trails no hard single track.
Any tips on what to avoid?
    thanks

Yep. No problem. Currently away from my PC, but I'll send you some tracks to sift through. I assume you have the entire state forest map, and not just the dual sport one they recently published. Much more for you north of the dual sport area.

Hey thanks, actually I did download just the dual sport pdf. I will download the other one too. One thing we aren't looking to ride is single track. I'm ok, so long as I keep the speed down, but one friend on the trip is completely new to riding off road. I did some you tube searches to find some good trails as well. Not everybody give the best description of where in the BESF they are. Some areas look really rocky.

    Thanks again

Understood. I'll highlight some areas I think you'll like, and some I'd avoid. Bald eagle has some single track that's nice and flat and some of what they call a "drivable trail" that's nothing but trench, puddles and rocks. There's also a couple places to stop for eats and drinks along the way as well as gas that I'll include. Give me a day or two to put it together for you.

I do recall one downhill that was a single track and was listed as an option for the Father's day dual sport ride...it was pretty tough...I can circle it on the map and post it later.

    Hi GreyGhost

Could I have a copy of map or file too please? I'm heading up to Bald Eagle in June for a group camp and ride and would be really grateful.

    Thanks

I would stay away from the trail circled in blue. From the last time I remember going there, it was a pretty tough single track downhill section.

Interesting. Never knew the actual routes that were ridden. Doesn't look like they hit a lot of the eastern part of the DS loop, but very cool routes.

Hey Tony, thanks for sharing the files. I like how you had comments on the tracks. How was the Main route you have highlighted?
What kind of bike were you riding for that? For comparison ideas...
    thanks

The track that is labeled "main route" is definitely rideable by any adv bike (even big heavy ones) - hell, I could have ridden just about any street bike on it.

For better reference, here is a LINK to the official forest service's dual-sport MC map - it shows details of all the trails in Bald Eagle, and whether they are Forest Roads, Double Track, Single Track, etc.

    That would be correct, but...

Please know that NONE of those tracks I posted from that event are anything close to what I would consider single track. There is single track in Bald Eagle, and the map I linked to shows that (look at the legend), but none of that was ridden at the event.

I was reading around a bit and yes there was no single track in last years event. They had to reroute due to the 2.5 inches of rain they got on Saturday. They didn't want the single track trails to get hammered.

Yes we have single track! Yes last year DCNR advised that we run our rain route which left out all the good stuff. Basically if our events ruins trails we have a limited time frame per DCNR to repair all damages. That is really tough for a small group of volunteers like PaTRA.

Note: the single tracks sections are closed until Friday before memorial day.
