How much was the Army truck?
You need one of those.
I have gone bananas. The banana plant got split into several and I was delivering one.
You must have had your camera out when you passed me. I had just pulled out of the fire dept parking lot across the street when you went by me. That guy has moved up from MX bikes in the yard.
They had a boat race at the Watauga yesterday. Layla was there.
I am going to get one more ride before I have to go back to work tomorrow.
Everybody needs one!....but Gaston won't tell us how much he wants.
How'd she do?
Hope you're having fun!....I'm already back at work.
That was going up Heaton Branch? just before the pavement ends.

The video follows the map above. The downed tree is at about 4:15 (makeshift helmetcam with kinda bad aim)

This year's RDV is to the right off Walnut on that route, I turned left headed for home.
Looks like you've been joy riding in my neighborhood. I live on Rush Branch Rd. I was out on a lot of those same roads around 12-2 today teaching my daughter how to drive. We went from the Bethel School over Stone Mtn to the Guy Ford Bridge & kayakers (where I took the wheel, for Hwy 421) then she resumed up Russ Norris heading over to Poga. Then we drove back via Watauga Lake to Locust Gap. I thought it was a pretty good loop for a Drivers Ed class.
It was a great day for riding.
Indeed I have been joy riding in your 'hood. I'd really like to ride the trails you've been lining up for the RDV someday too!! For now it looks like I'll be taking my groups of late risers out for lunch via some of these little big bike friendly neighborhoods. I believe it was you that tipped me off to a few little cafes last summer too.
I still need to sample the grub at that BBQ place in Neva....hoping to do that this coming Sat. :dg
No Big K at Texas....This makes me sad....
We shall ride again my friend!
You...should follow barnyard down to the RDV in May!!
She came in second for the women and finished ahead of the people that she needed to finish ahead of.
Congrats to Layla! :woot
Seen ya driving the kayak shuttle up Wilson Creek yesterday...thanks for the shout out the window!
I rode up to Black Bear (home of this year's RDV) and tested out a new tent on Friday night. It was in the 80s at the base of the mountain in Morganton and barely 60 up top in Pineola.
So I stopped to layer up both inside and out. :dg
All my friends rode up to join me.
Actually here's a preview of the paved road going up to Dennis Cove from Hampton.

Here's a couple more crappy makeshift helmetcams...turn the volume waay down.
This is leaving Black Bear and heading out over the mountain on the dirt road.

...and this one is continuing on down Little Stony Creek Rd to the overlook of Lake Watauga on 321.

so, it takes 9 min and 30 sec with traffic!
thanks for the vid - please share put it on the Rendezvous thread too
:ddog Oh you just wait......
Leaving the campground the pavement only continues for about another mile, after that it immediately got a little bit bumpy as it doesn't appear to have been graded or regravelled recently. Let's hope it stays that way until late May.
It's actually in great condition for 'big bikes' right now.
The lower half of Little Stony Creek is paved....paved two-track?
I'd have normally passed that guy but the road is covered with a lot of slag/sand and is still quite slick. I'll link to this once I get the rest of the pics up.
Random shots from the saddle heading down Little Stony.....
This is the driest you'll ever see this road....the moss is evidence of it's climate once the canopy of leaves is back.
Watauga from the overlook on 321
...and from the bridge on 67.
Look what I met on that bridge. cool
67 is pretty boring and has some traffic but it's really the only way to cross the water near where Little Stony comes down the mountain so my group will just have to suck it up for a couple of miles through here.
i see we have alot of the same friends
