    Thanks! ...and Yes! :thumb

My wife and I took a little spin this morning to show a neighbor that's new to area around the Crowders and Kings Mtn parks.....

Cool and cloudy with a few rain drops mixed in but not enough to get wet..

He's on an R6 and she's on that ol CB400 :ricky

Still not much color down around here yet but you can see that it's trying to get started..

Remember the old steel bridge from last winter?...it's in this pic! :lol3

My wife and I loaded ourselves up on the old Yamaha this afternoon and jumped in the parade of leaf peepers. We knew what we were getting into......

Most of the cotton has been harvested.....most of it.

Not much color down low yet.....

The colors looked pretty good up high last weekend but there was a storm front with high winds that passed through Thu night and Fri so most of that color was swept away already. :cry

....but there was some pretty nice colors at some of the mid elevations along the blue ridge....

The Mrs. took this shot on the fly with her little Canon A3100

She took this one too! :clap

She caught me in action! :lol3

Her exposures are better than mine too....

I guess it's time for me to break down and get a new pocket camera for 'on the fly' shots.....

    Her view

    My view :norton

It's OK....you can tell me that you like her pics better than mine. :bluduh

If you should ever get the urge to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway on a sunny Sunday afternoon in October......make sure that you don't have anyplace else to be! :rofl

The Via Duct area of Grandfather Mtn was very brown and barren compared to just one week ago...

Still some colors below the roadway though....

My attempts at shooting back over my shoulder while puttin' along in a traffic jam.

The rest of these pics are hers, all taken while rolling along.... :deal

    It crops :dunno

I think this one looks better uncropped. :D

...but it makes kind of a cool panorama of the Eastern ridge of the Linnville Gorge.

What's the matter?.....are you chicken? :rofl

The plan was to ride to Canyons in Blowing Rock for a mid afternoon lunch....traffic was hellish at best! :becca

It was a beautiful day though and our food as great, as always...as was the view.

.....too bad smugmug keeps crashing or I'd show you :huh...or maybe lucky you?! :lol3

Fingers crossed that both sites stay up now :patch

Grandfather Mtn as seen from Canyons...looking into bad afternoon lighting,

We weren't willing to go back into that traffic so we rolled down 321 instead....then turned back towards the base of Brown Mtn before hitting all the stoplights.

ROBBLE rode out to my place on Thursday morning to join me for a back roads route up to Hot Springs. I have not done much 'rugged' dual sporting lately and wanted to take advantage of being in an area that still has some available...so I loaded up the old DR650 and away we went. :ricky

We rode up Apple Rd into the park and there was just a hint fall color here and there.

....a little bit more color closer to the hills....

A low pressure system was still moving out of the area on Thursday morning leaving a possibility of snow at higher elevations. :patch

We weren't skeered :nah and headed for Mount Mitchell via Curtis Creek.

Mount Mitchell is up there 'under' that cloud. :uhoh

A few misc overlooks along the BRP

My guess was that everything under that cloud was covered in 'hoarfrost' :eyes I asked ROBBLE if he wanted to go see it.....and he said yes! :loco :lol3

Now that we had paid homage to the frost there was the hope that it would once again be sunnier and warmer as we rode South on the parkway.

It wasn't. The next 10 or 12 miles down through Craggy Gardens was frosted over as well.

But you could see sunshine on the hills just below.....

We rode down the mountain on gravel from Craggy leaving the frost behind for the rest of the weekend! :clap ...well, almost..but I didn't go outside in the mornings until it melted. :norton

The ride down was just as nice as the ride up had been. :thumb

Rick's cabin is over yonder there somewheres :lol3

    His infamous driveway :evil

I rode it one handed with the shutter clicking just so you could see that the rumors are pretty much just rumors. :rolleyes

    No big deal, right? :dunno

This part might be classified as steeper than it looks. :lol3

Well Thursday night turned into Friday morning just like it always does :lol3 and once we had some breakfast and the sun had melted the frost it was deemed to be safe to go for a ride! :D

PARTY BOSS™ asked me if I could lead a ride on Friday as KTMike would be leading a twisty street ride on Saturday. I think that mine was supposed to be a paved ride too but I misunderstood and made it an easy gravel/back roads route.

Nice day to ride up Hurricane Gap to the Rich Mtn fire tower though. :thumb

Hurricane Gap is an easy gravel FR...not to be confused with the rough FR of a similar name, Hurricane Creek.

A few shots from the tower.....

It seemed to me that the colors were brighter down under the canopy on the FRs than they appeared to be when viewed from above like this. :dunno

That little path near the bikes is the Appalachian Trail.

Once we got down the mtn Rick led us into town for some lunch. :dg

After lunch we made a run up FR 209 (not to be confused with NC 209) are you confused yet? :lol3
