After getting a quart of oil and some grub I doubled back down the 221 and past where I had climbed up the mountin earlier....

Unfortunately the time spent on that little detour put in bad lighting hours for Grandfather...but there's really not a lot of color there yet anyway.

The few times I have been caught I think back to all the times I didn't which is pretty much any time I get on a bike . When I do get caught I deserved it .

    So this happened today.

Lost the air cleaner cover somewhere in the 9 miles between my house and a little country store and grill to grab lunch. Followed same route home and didn't see it so doubled back to try again...even if it would have been a rashed up mess I'd still like to find it to hang on the wall....Robbie's memorial "7" was applied to that one at the crash site....

I found the other day a few "7" and tried to put it on the XC, but they won't stick anymore :waysad

    Well crap, that sucks. :(

I did a little internet searching for a new cover and haven't been able to find one like the one that was on there....I have found some though but they don't look as nice and they're selling in the $100 range. :eek7

Nope...it's not even really a functional piece as the 'inner cover' seals up against the filer and holds it in place anyway...I'll eventually put something on there...maybe. :hack

I found this in a google image search. :lol3

It was suggested elsewhere that I could just look for a 'house number' 7 in a similar font and paint it orange... :hmmmmm

ha - I guess I should look for the fat trucker guy.

I still have the non-sticking sticker though, I'll get it to stick somehow. Besides being a remembrance for Robble, I did the math and I ended up with having 7 people gone from my life since Rick died. Fucking ridiculous.

Got the KTM out about Noon today for a run up to Wiseman's View and back.

Cotton looks to be a thing of the past in the farmland approaching the South Mtns...what's that stuff...beans?...those fields used to be all white with cotton this time of year.

No lines of cotton wagons or big bales sitting outside of the old gin in Fallston....just few bags of....something.

Not sure what the current status of this old estate in town is either?.....renovation work seems to have stopped.

Today is the first time I've ever seen this old Plymouth out of the barn, at a farm I pass quite often on my way up to the hills.....

We had a line of strong storms pass though a few days ago, just heavy rain at my house but I heard tell of tornados in the Hickory area. Looks like there had been some pretty strong winds between Fallston and Casar too as this wasn't the only uprooted tree sighting today.

...also spied a number of barns that were missing some tin too.

Still pretty green down around Lake James....but I would be heading for old 105 along the rim of the Linville gorge in the distance...

Did an 'out-n-back' on Govt Rd and began to see a little more color along that ridge...
