AS it stands now, Oct 2 & 3. Others are planning the ride and I think they're looking at hitting the BRP somewhere above Asheville, camp o'nite, and get off onto some of the Virginia back roads to come home. When I say "backroads" I'm talking pavement. It'll be an eclectic group. 2 old shovel heads, a teenager aboard a KLR, my nephew on his 1150 GS, and my 650GS. It will depend on what happens between now and then with my eyesight whether I go or not. I have no central vision in my left eye and a cataract in the right eye is growing at an alarming rate. I am scheduled for cataract surgery on the 7th and can't wait. I haven't been able to see worth a shit for years and am really looking forward to it. My eyesight is why I tell everone that you are a tall, slender, handsome, suave and debonair guy I know. :rofl

JJnG!! I knew somebody would like the crappy pics of all the crap! :rofl

:dunno Sounds like you have perfect eyesight to me! :D

btw...I'll be riding pavement with a couple of the "old guys from work" gang on Oct 2-3....spending the night in Andrews, NC Sat.... and riding the Cherohala & Dragon Sun as part of the annual mecca to fulfill our duties as m/c tourists. :evil

They've gotten so used to following me that it will be interesting to see if they can find their way home by themselves on Monday. :lol3 (as I have to head for home Sunday night)

Speaking of the "old guys from work"

:deal Tukata's uncle is one of them but, unfortunately he just had shoulder surgery and won't be joining us on this year's fall ride.

The back story on the CT70 is that it belonged to Tukata's grandpa and it is the 1st bike that Tukata learned to ride on.

Back up 5 1/2 years to Daytona Beach Bike Week....his grandfather has passed away, grandma is living in an apartment and their home sits vacant and hurricane damaged. It was an inch away from being condemded and was eventually torn down but at the time the power and water were still on and it was a free place to stay during Bike Week.

The CT70 was sitting there at the house and one of the other "old guys" asked how much they wanted for it....the reply was take it, it's yours. So he brought it home to try to get it running but fell ill with cancer shortly afterwards. He recovered from that but never did get around to do anything with the mini-trail. As the years crept on Tukata's uncle was asked if he or anybody in the family wanted that back...specifically Tukata. But apparrently the message never made to him and when we were out for a group ride a few weeks ago the subject came up again and I said that I would take it if nobody else wanted it.

Short story longer.....How can I refuse to let a man have the very 1st bike he learned to ride on? Especially when it is the actual bike itself. :dunno

:deal The 'lil CT70 will be going home to Tukata sometime soon. :wave

Friday I loaded up my old DR650 and headed for PARTY BOSStm's Mini Rally @ The Cabin Sept 23-26

The cotton report is that harvest was in full swing!

And the lines of wagons were forming at the cotton gin in Fallston.

It kinda looks like popcorn and is currently making me hungry!

I seemed to be the only slacker just out for a ride in farm country! :uhoh

Unfortunately I only got about an hour from the house when the clutch began slipping badly! :ddog

Then I noticed that I didn't even have my wallet! :baldy

The silver lining was that I was pretty sure that it was still at home in my drawer and not lost. But either way it meant that I would have to double back to the house. :rolleyes

But before I'd be able to head back out I'd have to change the rear tire and brakes on the Strom. :becca

Well I had originally left for Rick's about 9AM and at about Noon-thrity I was headed out once again on my other Suzuki 650. I decided to change my route and hit the super-slab to make up for lost time but by the time I got out to Tryon I made the switch over to twisty back roads.

Lunch at Green River BBQ in Saluda. :dg

I didn't even bother trying to get any corner pics but here's a shot of Canton down in the valley below.

I relented and snapped a few on the flys as I headed towards Hot Springs.

    A typical hillbilly shack.

I can't say that I blame anyone for vacating this place, I wouldn't want to live that close to the road either. :nah

My on the fly barn shots sucked...sorry :dunno

A quick pit stop in Hot Springs before heading out to the cabin.

Later Saturday after the group ride....some wet DOGs rolled in.

We finished our ride before the rain and light rain that evening turned into heavy rain overnight....then let up to sprinkles as most packed up camp.
