Have a good time, looking forward to the photos.
I gotta get myself out west sometime.
I just got back from TX ... Total trip 3307 ... 11 days total...
If you're headed to THC, say hi to DWalt for me. I bought his Jeep 2 years ago.
You have bad timing this year.
Will do...yep, Texas Hill Country! gotta go see what all the hoopla is about, hear they have 3 curves down there someplace!
Get the free map of the southern edition of The TX hill country...
I'll get the full route typed out for ya.....
Our TX friends took us on what they said was the BEST roads in TX ....
Ride 335/336/337 AKA the 3 sisters... Also check out TX16 ... It's nothing like our roads .. But cool... A whole lot of Exotic game hunting places there !!
The same antelope/deer that they have in Africa !!!
Some curves, and roller coasters type roads... Great rock/sandstone views..
I hope to get my RR up before YOU head out
And as for timing... Well we went to The Gathering of the Fools in Friendswood,TX.. And that is put on by our good friends...
So of course it was 4/1 weekend.....
That all sounds very familiar....gonna just try to hang with the group, so hopefully I won't need to know much!
Took the old DR 650 out and explored some local trails this afternoon.
Sometimes the creek IS the trail!
Found out how the ATVs are crossing the interstate!
Yeah, I parked short and had a peek on foot before making the crossing myself.
Safely on the other side of the 'street'
Now getting across here may be a bit of a challenge!
Another option was to go into the deep water on the left then turn hard to the right and hit another trail.
Yep, still on foot thinking about it!
...until you get to the next crossing!
I'm on foot again back to where I left the bike, btw that was a pretty deep and rocky one!
You know darn well that it's steeper than it looks!! :ddog
That trail led to some logging roads near the park.....
She's a dirty girl
...and a gratuitous shed pic or two to finish off the day.
looks like a lot of fun.... even if there are no mountains :huh
:ddog What do ya mean no mountains?
Can't you see the pinnacle behind my bike??
ROBBLE met up with me to do a little more scouting for the RDV on Friday, for Friday's ride, does that make sense?
It was dusty up there today, real dusty.
The back yard @ Freebornes will be home to the RDV once again this year.....tiki bar has not been replaced yet though.
That's a fine looking crop of Christmas trees, don't you think?
Just 5 minutes from rally central via the scenic route.
Do property values really go down when the pavement ends?
This sand and pea gravel covered chip seal type pavement can be some sketchy stuff for a bike!
The New River...said to be the oldest on the continent? :huh
I don't think that I made that up...but I didn't double check my facts either so...
ROBBLE is just happy to see that wooden bridge because it means a break from the dust....for a few seconds anyway!
Can you make me up a gps route for some good routes that weekend?
This is a repeat from last year but going in the opposite direction so it's like a whole different road, right.....right?
The dust wasn't so bad where it hadn't been recently graded maybe the rest of it will get settled in by rally time.
Lots more but it'll have to wait until tomorrow.......
You got it!
Thanks for letting me tag along today kny. Awesome ride! You're like the little yellow man on google maps, you know where every road goes...
