You're a trendsetter Kevin.
So Mark, how many miles are on your Strom?
This year's Eastern Rendezvous, as most of you know was changed to be called Rick's Rendezvous in honor and memory of it's organizer and founder the 'PARTY BOSS' who we lost to a tragic accident earlier this Spring.
Cuttle and her hubby BDXMPL stepped up and carried an ox's load of the burden this year...BIG THANKS to them and all that helped!!
It went off well and even though a couple of guys went home with some bumps and bruise.......I'm hoping that all made it back home safe and somewhat sound.
Not many pics from me actually.....but I do have a few, like these roadside barns on the ride up Wed after work.
I thought that I was showing up early...but by the looks of all those canopies had the feeling that I was late!! :huh
I did, however, make it just in time for tea.
Registration was even in full swing!
No shit, lesson learned!
That was actually the quiet place to be this time!
We'll be looking for that 45 @ 45
Cuttle's sweet little Morini and kennyanc and _anatic looking on.. Those two were both key helpers in making this year's RDV happen!!
Getting down to the bottom of a big ol pot of chili Wednesday night! :dg
_anatic, Kyle B and Cuttle......contemplating the after effects of what's just been eaten!
Gaston Gagne, ROBBLE and BDXMPL
Woke up Thursday morning to the realization that I was camped next to a bunch of Canoodians. ..that made me kind of nervous!
eap, guitarhack, Mark-O and myself went on a little brunch run late that morning.....it was a picture perfect day to ride!
We stopped in W. Jefferson to see if Julie was at her coffee house I knew she'd take care of us with some good grub.
.....and she did! :dg
eap had already eaten so he opted for dessert instead. :eek1
She used to work for the same company that I do but made the gutsy move to chase a dream. ...that was 7 years ago already!
guitarhack, eap, Julie, myself and Mark-O
We kept the pace 'touristy' and the terrain mellow...but I did sneak in a little bit of dirt.
Just 'double tappin' those pesky old zombie sheds.
Looks like Redbud dinged himself this weekend. He posted something about a broken collarbone and a concussion. :huh
We're getting ahead of the storyline a little but the good news is that he was able to get up and walk away from a very scary crash!
Let's just say that I tried my best to knock some sense into the ol boy.
Back to Thursday's mellow brunch run.....
Had Julie not been tending her shop the General Store in Todd, NC was our 'plan B' it made a good 'plan A' rest stop too.
We swung by the HD dealer in Wilkes as there was supposed to be a group of antique bikes ending a ride from Wheels Through Time there before continuing on to an event in Denton the following day. But we were an hour or more too early so we just took a scenic route back up the mtn to camp......
He didn't say where it happened, and I haven't talked to him in about a week. I just saw something he put up on FB. What a knucklehead!
I want to wait to do the 100 @ 100. Maybe by then I can learn photography.
He actually ran into the back of me during the ride I led on Saturday......but somehow I didn't crash!
It's funny now....but it really scared me to see him lying in the street motionless. It was a big relief to see him get up and seem to be OK... wasn't long before the tweetie birds singing around his head were obvious to anyone within earshot though and that earned him a night in the hospital even though he didn't look like he a scratch on him.
Here he is wondering why he doesn't have a headlight.
I don't think anybody can question that that lid saved his life!
Even his bike appears to only have cosmetic damage.......
Dang... Redbud and Steve .. Who else ??? :huh
Did a flying dismount?
Sure glad all are basically OK
