I need a basic map of Europe, have a U.S. Garmin.

I am getting conflicting info regarding whether or not the maps from the
"Trip and waypoint Manager", which comes free with the GPS, are downloadable:

Or do I need to buy the World Map?

I do not need very detailed maps for Europe, just to get around.

    Thanks

Trip & Waypoint Manager has NO downloadable maps

Further, the map from T&WM that displays on the PC has less detail than WorldMap.

So yes you need to buy WorldMap

    Thanks Burnie,
helps to know. Some people were saying that they downloaded maps from T&WM, but I am not able to and Garmins instructions, although a bit cryptic, suggest the same.

Will go with the World Map.

T&WM includes the Garmin utility program MapSource, which is used to download maps from your computer to your unit. It's confusing because Garmin also calls its maps (the databases) "MapSource" maps (e.g. "MapSource City Navigator" "MapSource World Map" etc.). Thus, people don't dowload maps FROM T&WM but rather they download WITH the MapSource component of T&WM. Clear?
