Thanks CP. Retail through my dealer was almost 244!!:huh

Both prices seems way high. I'll either haggle on them or buy the Braille online.

I've had on for about 7 months and I've not had an issue but the bike lives on a battery tender when at home.

I'm considering the dual battery setup though. Has anyone installed a 1 way switch with an override yet? (I think that's the correct terminology, I'm not an electrocution typ0e of guy.)

Also Louis.de, one of the largest motorcycle equipment suppliers in Germany and Europe, has its own brand called Delo Power. There is one type which fits to 990. More infor here. (in German). The price is ~116 Euros.

I picked up my bike from the dealer couple of days ago. They said the alternator was not working and they changed it within the warranty. According to them the battery is OK. I will wait and check by not using the bike for a week. If the bike doesn't start after a week then I will order this Delo or a Braille from UK.

Radek, I am also looking ! The dealer orders the Interstate, Sears is a $100 deference. I am going to do a look around. I thought about putting getting two smaller batteries, but that would end up being a hassle. Going to get more paint today, H-Depo gave me credit for 2 gallons, the color was way off!

I didn't like the way the stock battery wouldn't hold a charge for more than a few days. It works fine if I keep it on a tender, but seems like it's nearing the end and needs a replacement soon.

So, I order a Braille direct from the company. It was nearly DOA. Would charge up to 12.7, but would drop down to ~4 on load test.

Here's the timeline of my saga with trying to get the battery replaced:

March 26: I had completed the form to register the battery for the warranty, but you need a return authorization to return the battery. I called and spoke to someone who said he would e-mail me the warranty-claim/return form "within the next few minutes". Never e-mailed me.

March 27: E-mailed them checking up on it. No reply.

March 29: E-mailed them checking up on it. Replied on:

April 8: Received the form. I filled it out and e-mailed it back. Did not receive a confirmation of receipt or next steps.

April 13: Received another copy of the form asking me to fill it out and submit it for warranty service. Since I had e-mailed it in on the 8th, I e-mailed back asking if they had not received it and attached copy of original along with forwarded e-mail. No response.

April 20: E-mailed them checking up on it. No reply.

April 27: E-mailed them checking up on it. Received a reply that said," I apologize for the delay. I have your form and will be getting it processed today. I will be sending you a tracking number later today." No tracking number sent.

May 4: E-mailed them checking up on it. Received a reply that said, "sorry your battery is out of stock." :huh WTF? Were they planning on telling me this?

I asked if I could have a refund since this whole process left me with very little confidence in Braille. They replied saying that they couldn't issue a refund since it was past the 14-day return period.

Anyone want to buy a Braille battery when my replacement finally gets here? I won't even open the box...:deal

I bought one of these from Batteries Plus last summer, and it lasted only 6 months until fizzling out...a cheap piece of foreign shit!

Buy the Braille...it has a year warranty, and every battery leaves the factory hand checked by a QA specialist. What else can you ask for? Plus it is made in the USA!

No, I hear you. I'm sure overall the build quality is good on the Braille and that my DOA was a fluke. I wouldn't be complaining at all about the battery itself, it's just the customer service that sucks. They've had multiple chances to sort this out and have consistently come up short and displayed a total "I couldn't give a fuck" attitude. What good is a one-year warranty if they don't actually stand behind it? I just hope your battery never fails, because it's apparently impossible to get them to actually replace it. :rolleyes

Mine died out in the toolies:cry . Tryed to push start and just hurt my leg - now I limp. I flagged down a mini-pickup, no jumper cables, so I grabbed his tailgate and got a pull up to speed -well it worked -after the 5th try! So I rode to the next town (damn it's cold), and asked for a 14BS. Wrong!
They matched up a CTX-9-BS Durlast. It's not a "sealed" and it's only rated at 8AH but then again the 14BS at 13AH was bigger. It seems to work after a charge and cost $65 (didn't work right out of the box).

    news to me...

The "BMW" logo'd battery I pulled out of my GS has the same casing as the one I ordered from Braille for the KTM (except size).

I ordered a battery for the GS this week from Westco and it is identical to the BMW logo battery, just a different sticker ('SVR batteries').

I think I got hoodwinked by Braille.
So much for what we read and buy into on forums...
