Anyone got a legal track for CC? Can you still get to New Idria? How much dirt accessible around and through now. Thinking about checking it out Sunday. :ear

Ramjet - PM me with your email address and I'll send you a gpx file for Clear Creek. Warning - I have ridden this route, but its not my track. Not sure how accurate it is. Looks pretty good, though.

A short blog about a week on the east side of the sierras (White Mtn and Death Valley)
It's a good follow up to all the talk about road closed signs in CC. There were a ton of those signs in DV...

Wow, super epic trip ... were those gates Echo Canyon?
edit: having thought about it for a second, I guess not, since you'd have passed Big Dune
    before gas in Beatty ...

    Thanks for the link! :clap

    see you around the campfire,

I went through Clear Creek yesterday (New Idria to Los Gatos Creek Road - didn't do Spanish Lake or other county roads off it as I was solo and playing hookey from work). The road up from New Idria is unmaintained and quickly becoming a jeep trail - rock staircases forming, plenty of deep ruts, and whoops too - definitely an intermediate route

Without a mayor, New Idria gives me the creeps - I don't want to find out the meth heads have found it so I didn't stop.

San Benito County isn't maintaining the road. SBC is also one of the poorest counties in California.

There is a family that lives next to town that are … trouble makers from what I've heard. They don't own the town, but they act like it. They steal from the town and sometimes try to shoo people away. It's best to avoid all contact.

There are two paths up from New Idria to the summit. Lower and Upper. I forget which one is typically less nasty than the other. It's been a a few years since I've been over those roads.

I rode up China Grade yesterday and the gate @ Johansen was open. No sign prohibiting entrance so my buddy and I rode down to the intersection with Middle Ridge Rd (the first intersection, not down at Sandy Point). It was fun but I'm not sure it was legal. Saw two mtn bikers ... we kept the speeds down (1st and a little 2nd gear).

Also rode Lodge Road through the park. Paved - but stunning. Zero traffic.

Hey, I'm looking for some adventure riding partners in the Bay Are to ride with! I'm interested in doing day trips and overnight camping trips with some off road component to them. Would be great to find some people looking to explore out here!

I'm new to adventure riding around here and in general, but I have done some awesome riding in the Indian Himalaya before I moved here:

Is this the best place to post this?

I'm 'tard style currently but was planning on doing a run this weekend. I can't do long freeway stints (or don't really want to). I was thinking out to the Junction and if I was feeling frisky, maybe up and over Hamilton...

Which day? I could ride over Hamilton for lunch at the Junction (might go early and have some fun at Frank Raines in the morning come to think of it).
