T O Double D, do you have any tracks from that ride? I am heading out there in two weeks and would love some route suggestions.

I use the Toiyabe National Forest Map put out by the USFS. Benchmark map books are pretty good as well and Google earth has been a big help.

    Great shots.
What page on the benchmark maps are those trails on?

I'm headed to Black Rock desert on the long weekend.
Camping at the Trona hot springs and doing day rides from there. Should have good views of burning man during the night as well some great riding by day.
    All welcome.
I'll post cordinates for those who don't know where it is.

    September 10-12th:

    Hey ADV'ers Just Paul here,

I am looking for 1 or 2 people to go on a 2 day dual sport ride with. The date of the ride will be Friday Sept 10th (after 5pm) Sat 11th (ride), Sunday 12th (ride and come home)

The ride is called the High Sierra Dual Sport ride. I have a gpx track from last years ride and would like to explore the area.

NOTE: This is not a group ride or organized ride and it will just be you and me figuring it out.

You should have a Dirt bike that is plated and be a good rider.

any plated 450, 525, or 530. If your name is Todd or Mike you can take your KTM 9x0

You should have a gps and know how to use it.

I have uploaded the gpx file here

    Hi all,

Great pics of the Bodie ride; thanks for posting Just Paul! Looks like you all had lots o' fun ...

Here're a couple of pics from our mid-August KLR ride from San Francisco up to Lake Pillsbury:

My "Barbie" KLR & me on Doyle Drive ...

Up Rt 175 east towards Upper Lake ... Cary was riding two up with her 16 y/o step-sister, Julia, who took this photo ...

North of the fire tower towards Deer Valley campground ...

Tegan's KLX250 and Chuck's DR 350 (my old bike that Cary rode for two months & 7000 miles on a Baja trip)

Boating on Lake Pillsbury ... Cary and Chuck can't be late ... more pics about this here ...

Good food at our base camp at Lake Pillsbury Resort ... a private campground that takes reservations ... $30/night, showers, a store ... we used it because we had a boat, otherwise I usually do the disperse-camp thing up away from the lake ... this worked out well. We had a Coleman Camp Oven/range and made a chocolate layer cake w/ sour cream icing and strawberries and tri-tip ... yum. Watched the Perseid meteor shower at night ... we did a fair amount of boating and swimming during the heat of the day, but we were pretty lucky with the weather ... it was not too hot on the lake ...

On the way up to Hull Mountain on M-1 ...

View of Lake Pillsbury ... lost my girlfriend down there ... ha.

    Lots more pictures here:

I'm pissed you missed it too... I wanted to compare the 690 with the X-Challenge back2back damit! :D

But seriously, it would've been cool if you'd made it. Hopefully next time!

    Hi WoodsChick,

Thanks for the kind words! We hope that a motorcycle wedding cake is the secret to a long and happy marriage, like you and Eric ... :D Is Eric's ankle recovered after his tip-over in Nevada?

Here's a pic of the bride at Thunderhill yesterday ...

I think Cary needs two more race weekends with the AFM, and she'll have her Expert plates ... [you need six race weekends to advance from novice yellow plates ...]

As we were leaving Thunderhill last night, about 100 BMWs were pulling into the track to camp out and ride on Sunday ... looked like a BMW MOA trackday ... Fun!

    See you in the campground,

There were 8 skydivers all jumping at the same time. We stopped and watched them for a few minutes... they landed about 5 seconds apart..
