I was there with my 4 kids, 3 riders and a lap 4 year old. Next time. Hollister tomorrow.
I gotta get a smaller bike.
Rain is returning on Wednesday. Tuesday is the day I can ride.
Options I'm interested in;
1. Stage north of Lake Berryessa for a DS RIDE thru Knoxville OHV and then Reiff/Rayhouse Roads to Cache Creek, Buck Island, etc, and back. 100-mile range needed and bring your lunch for the trail. Easy to intermediate terrain, with an optional hard split or 2. Anyone know the current status of Reiff Road? When its wet, its SNOTTY!
2. South to Hollister SVRA to ride the Renz ST, etc...
Anyone interested in either or something else? Unless someone offers a better idea, I'm doing one of these on Tuesday.
I can't make Tuesday, I'll probably try and miss the rain early Wednesday morning at Carnegie .
A friend is meeting me north of Lake Berryessa at 10AM. Riding towards Knoxville OHV at 10:30.
Only a little snot in just a few wet places. Mostly perfect moisture & traction everywhere else!
The 100-mile KnoxvilleOHV, Reiff-Rayhouse, BlueRidge, & BuckIsland loop somehow grew to 119 miles.
We must have done a little exploring along the way. Tread Lightly!
Got back to pavement before dark, and back to the truck without going on reserve.
Dinner at the Rockville Bar & Grill was pretty good. The blonde bartender was even BETTER!
You missed a FUN one!
Yeah, we had to bunny-hop the locked gate again!

A little sunlight on the way down to Buck Island
Catfish at the crossroads
is that area doable on a 950 Adventure for a fairly good rider?
Yes, if they can negotiate the locked gate AND its not too wet. Most of it is easy when dry. When its wet though, the clay areas turn into "Moose Snot on Teflon(tm)!" Then the moderately-steep, rutted hills could get exciting!
NEXT WEEK ... watching the weather and will probably ride somewhere on Wednesday or Thursday. Where would you like to ride?
Would you be willing to post the GPS track for this ride? looks like a great ride.
Not the recent trip, but these old tracks of mine at gpsexchange.com go there.
Rain again on Tuesday & Wednesday.
I suspect it will be Friday before Carnegie or Hollister will have all areas open again. Let me know if you are interested in either this week.
I was out at Carnegie today and it was wet wet wet. At 3pm the rangers opened all the hills. I'm out for riding this week..I'll keep my fingers crossed for next week.
I'm riding Carnegie on Friday. Waiting to see if its a DS ride with a friend from home, or trucking the bikes there. I'll post details Thursday.
Qwik - i dont think its possible for a solo rider to get an adventure bike past the gate on reiff road. I sure couldnt do it.
Ms.Beta is ready for her desert trip next week. The rain finally stopped.
Everything at Carnegie is open except the SRI loop. Ride tomorrow (Wednesday. Dec.19). Arriving by 11AM & riding to 3 or so. Dark-green Toy Tundra between Moto Mart & restrooms. Riding my (black&blue singletrack) practice loop a few times.
Anybody wanna go play tomorrow?
Heading to Carnegie with Ms.Beta on Wednesday to practice some JL-School exercises and ride the fun 20-mile singletrack loop (black & blue trails) once or twice.
I'm working late Tuesday night, so won't get to Carnegie until 10-11am. Dark-green Tundra between Moto Mart & the restrooms.
Wednesday (5/1/2013) at Hollister ...
Its only going to be 80 in HH tomorrow, and Ms.Beta wants to play on the Renz singletrack.
8:30-9AM at 1st day-use area. Dark-green Tundra. Will ride to mid-day and drive home before the afternoon commuters hit the road.
Hey, we're still listening...can't make it though.
Got your email and thanks for reaching out. I may try to make it to Hollister tomorrow. I have done a ton of work to my bike and need to get it out there. I was hoping to get my gearing changed before I rode again but wont be able to do that before tomorrow.
I will post up later tonight if I can make it. Not sure if I can make there by 9am as I will be coming from the Danville area.
I understand. Carnegie is getting very dry & dusty, so I don't mind riding by myself. Did you see the new trails cut into the SRI Loop area? Right above the MX track. They weren't open yet the last time I was there. I was SHOCKED! NEW TRAILS about to open at Carnegie!?! :eek1
I replaced the rear tube, seat foam, & seat cover today. Test rode Morgan Territory. Pssst, I'm further north than you!
