I was thinking of a name for my blog that would get most of my prior followers joining in and this is what I came up with, the real test in how in tune I was will be in how long it takes Vintagespeed to click on the link, I'm backing he will be along any time now as will a lot of others :-)

Might as well let the cat out of the bag, it's Sheldon and Ev (rideforsmiles.com) again but this time Im dumping the old ball and chain and heading off east in to Russia and beyond by myself while she stays to work, study and sustain our happy future together, well that's what she tells me I haven't hacked her email account yet she's probably got a intinary of "friends" just hapening to be passing through Poland the day I leave. Andre one of our travelling buddies we met way back in Baja years ago just dropped in for a few days and it was great to see him, unfortunately for him I had delayed my departure by a few days waiting on the arrival of a DJI Spark drone, he was probably thinking along the old Max Smart line of "I missed it by that much" oh well better luck next time buddy :-)

I have been meaning to get this blog up and running a little earlier but been busy getting all my stuff organised, well you know what I mean Eva has been getting my stuff organised why I bark orders for a sandwich every now and then, as you can see I've turned over a new leaf when it comes to being married, Im much more subtle and well meaning.

Your going to have to wait for the first video and pictures I'll be onto them from tonight, going to have to get back into the swing of things and the blogging after having pretty close to 6 months sitting on my ass doing bugger all.

Everyone always used to ask what I was going to do when I eventually stopped and I always answered with Im going to buy a comfortable couch, a big flat screen Tv, Playstation 4 and sit on my ass for 6 months and do nothing, well you will be happy to know I exceeded my expectations and you really just dont know how much I have enjoyed it. After so many years on the road living out of hotels and tents being able to walk in my own front door sit on my own couch, go to a FRIDGE and get some food out and at the end of a long arduous day of relaxing go and curl up in my OWN smelly fart sack full of my own pedigree bed bugs has been fricken heaven. The stuff we can take for granted is so bloody nice and I really have enjoyed having those simple luxuries again.

But it hasn't all been a sitting my ass, I've been getting set up to hit the road again, first cab of the rank was get my health all in order, Im not getting younger you know and with a bride 20 years younger than me it was time to whip this old mangled body back into tip top shape, oh gawd I started coughing as I typed that, lets just get the body back looking semi human shall we. Ive actually been quite successful at it, when we got here in Poland I had two things I thought I could achieve, one was learn some of Ev's native Polish so I could communicate with her family and the other was lose some weight, well not a tough decision really for anyone that knows my lack of interlect and my penchant for a crappy McDiet, one was always going to be easier than the other so it was losing weight, obviously having your own fridge and not living out of service stations and random roadside cafes helps when it comes to refueling your body a little better and I've lost 25kgs or 50 lbs so its been pretty damn successful. Anyone that has gone from a chubby bubby to a lean mean fighting machine will know how much better I feel, I have actually even started jogging , I know right, what the hell the man has gone crazy.

Ev's work was able to put me on medical cover so got all the check ups, heart, thyroid specialists, physio for free, you know all the stuff us geriatrics have to pay through the nose for in the western world and the stuff I have had issues with over the last year or two so there was no excuse not to do it all.

But as is always the case all good things have to come to an end and in a few hours Im packing the bike (yeah see I'm back i to blogging mode already I started typing this at 4:30am) and hitting the road and for the first few weeks Im going to have my son Jared with me. We have caught up previously as some of you might remember in Ethiopia, Scotland, Slovakia and for a few hours in Canada a few years ago now, 3 was it, bygeebus how time flies hey. Ev will fly into Moscow in a few weeks to replace him on the bike where we will head off a 1000km/600 miles east to experience the football/soccer world cup and the Australia v France in Kazan, Australia v Denmark in Samara and then back to Kazan for the Poland v Colombia games. After that Ev will fly home and back to work and study and I will continue on, to where I have no idea but Mongolia is only 6000 kilometres or 4000 miles away and its somewhere I wouldn't mind going, I think I have learnt by now I could end up just about anywhere so making plans is just a lesson in futility.

Hopefully when I get into the blogging again I will be able to bash up some nice videos, I've update my helmet cam to the Sony FDR 1000v got myself a new phone with a mickey mouse camera in it and latched onto a the DJI Spark drone which I already mentioned and it has really proved to be a peice of piss to fly so it's going to make for a great add onto the footage we get down the track. I've also downloaded some good video editing software and other programs that will help give the videos a more pro look rather than just throwing shit together in Movie Maker and dumping it on you guys to tolerate.

Anyway 6:30am now only got a few hours left with my sweetheart better roll over and snuggle up and let her know I care, you guys know how it is a few minutes out of my time wont kill me.

Pictures will come tonight or soon after and I will put a link to the old blog for anyone new that wants to waste their life in reading the previous few hundred pages of me jibbering rubbish thats taken me from nearly being killed to by a semi trailer truck near my home in Australia to travelling the world from Antartica to the Arctic Circle through 90 odd countries and being married to my beautiful Ewa here in Poland.

Oh by the way typos and incoherency is normal for me so I apoligize in advance for what goes on in this blog, I do my best, I try and show that the world isn't as big bad and ugly as we are led to believe but don't go looking for me sitting on a hilltop looking for inner peace Im way to shallow for that Im just a guy that loves motorbikes, riding, travel and having fun.

Welcome aboard or welcome back and cya soon.

Thanks guys its good to be back and on the road, got my boy with me so that's nice. Before I get jibbering I've got a tip that might help out some others looking to get travel insurance that covers you while riding the bike and covers quite a few existing medical conditions such a high blood pressure as in my case. I've always used World Nomads which covered us Aussies on the motorbikes but just on the off chance there might be something cheaper I put a search into Google and came up with https://www.comparetravelinsurance....-tips/travel-insurance-for-motorbike-holidays and found 1Cover Travel Insurance and without all the dovielackey rubbish you don't need and only unlimited overseas emergency medical assistance and unlimited overseas emergency medical and hospital assistance all for the rock bottom bargain basement price of 211 AUD which is actually pretty damn good. It's underwritten by Lloyds so pretty reputable and going off all the 490 odd reviews a lot of people seem pretty happy with them. So there you go a TIT bit of information and Ev is nowhere to be seen.
Might as well let you guys that aren't in the know and might be looking for some information on the green card 3rd party insurance for Europe which you need if you are bringing a foreign bike over here, use Ivo and Polly at Motocamp Bulgaria you can do it all online its around 130 Euro for 3 months just Google them and its all to easy and pretty much the cheapest you will find, one tip is don't buy it in Germany you will pay 3 time the amount for pretty much the exact same thing.

We are in Turon only a few hundred k's north from Poznan on the Vistula River, it's famous for its Gingerbread and has been since the 14th and the Tutonic Knights in the 12th century.

It was an easy first day on the bike for my boy didn't want to push him to far and for me as well he was already whining about his ass, its lucky I didn't make him wear assless chaps since we do tend to look a little gay with two dudes on the bike, the good news is Jared's been doing Ju Jitsu for awhile now so any problems i'll sick the dog loose and sit back and enjoy my beer.

It's pretty nice around here and it was a beautiful day and afternoon for a ride, I'll post a video in the morning just been organising the files before wacking it all together for you unruly mob.

Went out for dinner last night and one last stroll for now around Poznan, my goodness gracious me the girl just keep her hands and mouth to herself I tellz ya :-) I wouldn't be surprised if you Google Cheshire cat grin my picture would come up.

Just a few shots of Turon, this town isn't on many western tourist maps but it quite easily could be its beautiful and it is home to the father of astronomy Copernicus and this was his place of abode.

OMG who is this swelte young chap, yeah baby I'm fading away to a small suburb.

So in the end last night I got caught up playing around with Paintshop Pro and Adobe After Effects and if any of you know how in detail those programs are for an average Joe like me (that's taking nothing away from average Joe) you can get lost pretty easily so today you just get this short little video, obviously have a lot of work to do but I'll be able to add other footage and music into the videos and improve the quality of this over the next little bit. It's like anything, once I have done it a few times I'll be banging it up in 2 minutes. speaking of 2 minutes, Ev has one more day then her exams so she is home studying her little heart out in between bouts of crying now that I have gone :lol3:lol3 you really do have to love my fantasy world.

Enough jibber jabbering here's the short video I knocked up, if you think it's a waste of time let me know or if I can improve it in anyway, I was thinking I could add how much I spent, price of fuel etc so people could see how much this all costs. I was going to do that last night but didn't want to scare people from their own adventure but you know how it is "everyone's adventure is their own", how much they spend, what they pack bla bla bla we are all different.

I'm using a few different things this time around a Gps for one, yeah yeah I know shock horror so there will be no more riding to an intersection in some far flung place and blindly taking a turn, I still laugh at myself for some of that I did last summer in Romania with Ev on the back and she would say "you know where your going don't you honey" and I would just say yeah of course and then just pick one of three ways. If you are looking for a mobile Gps so far so good with this little beauty and Ill keep you updated if it shits itself to badly.

This'll be fun, but may I suggest a slightly different title. Perhaps The "3 B's, Beers, Babes & Bullshit", or you could take it to the next level and call it the "4 B's, Beers, Babes, Balls and Bullshit". Balls being reference to the world cup.

I am curious to know how you went about your Russian visa though. My take is that you have to be in your home country to get one, additionally if you plan to go see Ghengis's homeland that means at least two Rusky visa's. Did you get a business visa?

Enjoy, have fun with Jared and looking forward to to your take on Russia and beyond.

    Bullshit, why I never :lol3 :lol3
Didnt get the business visa for Russia the tickets to a world cup game gives you visa free muliple entry from June 4 to July 25 so thats more than enough time to make a choice on where I want to go and was a perfect way to get to see Russia without having to send my passport home to Australia.
I can get my Mongolian visa in Urkust or whatever it is over near Lake Bikal in a few days and then get a transit visa in Ulanbataan to get back through Russia to the Stans. Pretty expensive at 180 AUD for 5 days but it is doable if I decide on that, time will tell.

I've pretty much only got two routes rattling around in my head, one is over to Mongolia, it is only 5 or 6 thousand k's away. The other is one I've been invited on with a fellow Russian biking brother I met way back in Africa, the Russian Golden triangle runs north up from Moscow and back down and around in an 8 day ride and then I would head south to the old Stalingrad, Crimea and onwards to Georgia, Turkey etc.
Either way will be a great ride. Andre says he might have a few lady friends that might join us on the Golden Triangle ride, he obviously knows that's like throwing candy at a baby to entice me

Ahh that makes crossing Russia so much easier. Seems we will be a year too late. We're still not too sure what next year will bring, but Russia is high on the list.

Next small northern Polish town along the line and close to the Kaliningrad Russia border was Olsztyn which has the beautiful central park and the Lyna River flowing through it.
