After Kevan left, the French Twist departed and then John too, left us. :wave :sad

Now it was just the Three Musketeers and the rest of the day to occupy ourselves with important desert things.

The Suzuki Bandit will go anywhere and so, I took it off road for about 5 miles of gravel. My intrepid friends find off-road riding a pleasure - since they are set up for it & they have a lot of practice. :ricky

We couldn't make it to Chicago, so we went to the Chidago Canyon petroglyphs instead. :deal

Then we went an ate at a Chinese place in Bishop, shopped for steaks - two nights in a row! And we got some sweet corn that was quite tasty.

Rob provided the fireworks for the closing night.

I told them about "I Am the God of Hellfire and I Bring You Fire" by The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, but you know hardly anybody knows about that song anymore.

It was a pleasant last night - we soaked, we talked we burned up some left-over accelerants. :annie

Monday morning came with the cackles of stoned kids in the next campground. At 6:30 or so. :twitch

When I got up, Dave was already in the hot tub, soaking up the heat. Rob slept in until at least 6:51. :snore

He made eggs and sausage and we had a nice breakfast around 9:00. No real hurry to pack or leave, we had the campground till 11:00 and we lasted until 10:30 or so before leaving. Dave rode away with the wind back to Arizona and Rob & I rode off West as we're wont to do.

A stop in Bridgeport at Travertine Hot Springs was a welcome stop, we were both still very tired so a bit of a pool soaking nap was in order. :jkam

As we rode up 89 to get to Hwy 4, the remnants of a fire crew tended to a pretty big fire that went all the way up the eastern side of the mountain. And when we got onto 4, we stopped for another rest at a place that got burned after last year's ride - probably in October.

The sky was crying for a long while as we drifted down 4 to 49. We'd gotten separated up on the mountain and regrouped in Angels Camp, then rode to Isleton on 12. That is a bit too long - maybe find a better way to get back as it added an hour and a half to the old destination of Elk Grove. While 12 is an ok road, it can become tiresome at the end of a long day of riding. :knary

Mrs. Larryboy had food for us when we got back - more steak :dukegirl :lol3

This officially ends my portion of the ride report. :scratch I don't know if Rob or Dave will add anything - SFMCjohn has already shot his pixelwad so we won't get any more reporting from that quarter. :nono

:wave Thanks for dropping in on one of the gnarliest Ride Reports I've written.

    This week. :D

Oh yeah, after all was said, done and rested up over, I went back to Rob's house Friday night for a weekend mining operation. We went to Reno to pull some vintage tin from the Reno auto mines. :deal

Gross, I know, but this is how Rob expresses himself when he's around Edsel parts.

How many advriders does it take to repair a light bulb?
    1. Owner to squeeze the brake lever.
    2. Overzealous Helper to wiggle wires and make declarations about the current status of the lamp.
    3. One Experienced Mechanic to bark suggestions and ensure the other two idiots are doing it correctly.
    4. One Crazy Frenchman as safety inspector.

It looks like I need to get back in the habit of looking for ride reports every few days so I don't miss the good stuff. I got out of the habit because so many of my favorites have stopped posting ride reports. :(:

Luckily I discovered Dave's report which got me to this one. Here's some of my favorite posters and I almost missed out.

Nicky, great job on the ride report and I won't needle you like LarryBoy does. :lol3

One last thing . . . . The last time I saw the two of you I traveled down there to see you. It's your turn to come up here. First part of June. :deal :D

Thanks for the wonderful ride report and pictures.

There's a chance I can make it this coming June, but I'm not promising anything. :nono Now that I have a reliable bike again, I can plan ahead. :nod

Thanks for the wonderful ride report and pictures.[/QUOTE]

I'm glad ya liked it! Next time I do some writing on here, I'll try to send you a link. :hmmmmm

A band of brothers & good friends, thanks for posting. In June I was able to stop at Benton Hot Springs ( to early to camp ) on my way North to check it out, looks like a great place and will have to make it a destination some day for a few day's.
