How about putting a magnet on the end of the dipstick? Just saw this one, replace the aluminium rod with a stainless steel one, and magnetize it.

I appreciate all the images- but- has anyone had these hoses back out? Any fall off?

Yes, I'm well aware of the safe/sorry ratio, and understand the idea of safety wiring.

But from a practical POV- anyone?

We try our best to offer the best prices we can. Don't forget about the ADV discount code.

    Reason for increase last season:

We make our own custom fittings that are metric tool compatable (use your tools in the OEM tool kit)

All hose kits now all include a predrilled drain plug for safety wire if you choose.

Orange fittings for those that want it are also offered, only found here.

These features you won't find in any normal kit.

    safe travels,
    Craig

Thanks Craig. Nice touches. I'm sold.

I see KTMtwins offers a discount to ADV, but only for oders above $900.

Where would I use the coupon you mentioned and what might the code be? :ear Google is failing me.

I was thinking about this why not put a magnet on a long thin spring attached to the drain bolt to run up in to the tank?

This thread has just the info I've been looking for-how to build an oil tank drain line for cheap, AND it even had the individual part numbers! Gotta love the OC. Thanks guys!

My local bearing house built me one for $17. Used it for 15,000+ miles with no problems.

17 bucks sounds even better to me. I've thought about having the local hydro hose shop build me one. And now that I know what size the thread pitch is on the drain plug, I'll ask to have them give me a price on it.

I just took the plug when I did an oil change and had them put a fitting on one end and picked out a metric sized plug for the other end. Took about 15 minutes.

I just found a 90 degree fitting with the oil tank threads on one end and flare on the other. The tank side has a o ring and nut so the fitting can be set at any angle and locked. With your fuel tank off and that lower bracket under the tank removed you can put the fittting in the tank and time it so it misses the fuel petcock and other bolts. To change oil just remove the cap and drain. Depending on the set up you may need some little funnel or something but mine "just" clears. Or you could slide a piece of hose over the end of the fitting.

And I purchased the hose kit prior to this. Even had the local weld shop copy it with some changes I thought of.

As for catching shavings that your filter isnt getting, glue a donut magnet to your oil filter cap if you have a particular worry.

    YMMV

    Quick question:

Since the hose is not an integral part of the pressurized oiling system, do you guys think I could get away with a nylon braided hose?

The point being that I could go all black on the system, and that those hoses can withstand temperature form 275F to 500F...

    Thanks!!

I don't think it would be an issue. I don't think it's pressurized
