These aftermarket shocks, do the manufacturers hard plate the bores of the cylinders (shock tube)?

Watch the video. You get ohlins springs and the inner resivoir. You then bolt up your ESA components off the BMW shock and they become ohlins. I've also called and talked to them. Pretty tempting.

Looks great to me too. I like that the base shock can then be rebuilt like any Ohlins. I would go this way. AC/DC soundtrack was pretty good too.

Has anyone went this route? Any other new direction one should look at?

So Klaus will answer your emails with direct answers.
He didn't offer any insight and pretty much regurgitated what his website says.

Ted Porter, responded to my email... the email said "call me"
I did and we talked for over an hour.
    Then a few more times.

I called him yesterday about shocks for my airhead... he said it was his day off and he was doing yard work but... it was just shoveling dirt, so we could still talk. Wouldn't take "i'll call you later for an answer". We talked for 30m easy.

I bought Yacugars from him with all the extras. I wasn't terribly happy with the setup, so he fixed em up while I waited. I've bought other stuff from him as well and am looking at a few options he threw out for the airhead. I have no reason to look elsewhere. You can't get this kind of service anymore at any price.

My 1150GS has had Wilbers on it for over 30,000 miles and no leaks or other problems at all. About 1/2 has been 2-up and heavily loaded, 1/2 solo and heavily loaded all over the US while avoiding the slab.

Now we're off to Baja 2-up and loaded -- without worries about shocks or handling. I hope your mileage doesn't vary..... :D

Just a quick update on my Wilber's. I did 3000 mile trip last week to Tx Hill Country and back. Had the bike loaded pretty good. All my camping stuff etc. hit some Ark twisties on the way down. The shocks felt great. However, the biggest change was down in Tx. Riding the gravel stuff. That's by far the best the big gal has felt on high speed gravel, ever. Ted really has come through. Huge improvement.

I have hyperpros on my 06 GS that I got from Klaus 3 years ago. They have been great so far. That being said my buddy bought the same shocks at the same time and had the front start leaking last winter. It wasn't a big deal but he had to take the shock off and send back for a rebuild which took about a week. After that I was talking to my local BMW dealer who said that most BMW dealers can rebuild Ohlins shocks in house, so if you are a long way from home you can get them repaired pretty quick. My GSA will probably be getting Ohlins in the near future.

I put a set of Wilber's on Sunday at Herman's and he is great to work with.
He has put Wilber's on all my bikes, a GS, an RT and a GSA.
The trick is to get them from the factory perfect for YOU. That's where Herman has been right on the money (no pun intended but true on both counts) When they get it right for you, they are OMG! Who installed the glass roads? Call Herman is my recommendation.

I put a set of Wilbers on the 1150GSA last week also. They were second hand but in great shape and are really GREAT to ride on.

They were marked " R1150GS adventure" on the box, but the bike is definitely now about 20mm lower than stock (unloaded). Anyone know if this is normal?
