I've got a couple of friends riding from AZ to FL and they are trying to spend time enjoying some of our great roads. Unfortunately they don't have enough time just to explore so I am trying to get the most bang for the buck for them.

I am meeting them on the Natchez Trace headed South to North and I just don't know the best way to get them over to the Cherohala and Dragon area. Once there I have several favorite loops to work our way South on.

Anyways, any thoughts would be appreciated and we could exit the Trace at any point without going all the way to Franklin if that makes for better options.

    TIA

    Cheers

I would say TN 96 from Franklin to Murfreesboro, then take 70S to McMinnville. Not the most epic of roads but it keeps you away from Nashville and off the interstate. From McMinnville TN east take TN30, then get on TN 39 from Athens to Tellico Plains. This section I do highly recommend.

+1.....that's the route I've used in the past

Best part of the trace right at the top.....section from 7 to the end.....

The Loveless Cafe is at the northern end point...stop! Also, just below there, off route 46 exit, is Leiper's Fork. Worth a stop at Puckets if you happen to be coming by on a Sunday morning. Always a great group of riders there at that time, with some interesting bikes.

    Thanks patmo

I have eaten at the Loveless Cafe with a friend several years ago, but as time was short we headed out with only a very, very short spin on the Natchez Tr. I figured it was close enough I would quickly get back to ride it, NOT :rofl

I had to look up Leiper's Fork, very cool little community.

Your comment on the North end is helpful. I will see if they would like to save time riding less of the Natchez Tr. and to concentrate on the Northern end allowing for more time to stop and smell the roses. One of the guys has done the BRP and North, but never made it to FL. Avid riders and trying to be home on time while not just slabbing it either.

    Thanks again for the input.

    Cheers
