Which replacement seat has worked on your XR650R? Im looking for a seat to make 100+ mile days easier on the backside.

SDG or Guts racing foam with new cover?

The only concern I have about the taller seats is well the height. Im 6' and the XR is one tall beast as it is. Does adding another 1.5 to 2" make much of difference or am I making something out of nothing?

This helps me on mine. Alaska Leather lambskim butt pad.[IMG]

If interested advrider BARB has the shop in alaska. It helps me and the price is a lot less than a new seat. it also helped me on my 3000 mile trip in New Zealand.

I've got the Renazco seat on my XR400, and love it. As far as height goes, what matters is your inseam. I have a 32" inseam, and the seat is now a little over 40" (at free sag). Stock height was 36". The extra height was by request- I don't know how much he usually raises the seat by.

It is a huge improvement when moving, as my knees are now bent to a reasonable angle when sitting, and I can grip the sides of the seat with my knees instead of the insides of my calves. When stopped I have to scoot to the side of the seat to get a foot down flat and I usually have to get off the bike to back it up, but for me the trade off is worth it.

    What CA Stu said...

I'm thinking of adding a gel pad to mine, there's a gut in San Diego that does it pretty cheap.

Haven't been able to put a long ride on it yet, but I had a local guy put a half inch off nice foam over the top of the stock stuff, re-staple the stock cover on and it feels pretty good. Way cheap also.

I have an '02 XR250 and replaced the stock seat (which I think might be the same type seat build as on the XR650R...but could be wrong). Felt like my butt was hitting the plastic base on long rides so I replaced it with an SDG tall seat. I wanted a taller seat so that my legs wouldn't be so cramped in the sitting position. Funny thing is, when I compared the SDG side by side with the stock seat, they both appeared to be the same height except right where the foam turns up to the tank. I tend not to sit that far up so there really wasn't that much difference in seat height. I haven't measured the width or compared it to the old seat but it feels slightly wider. The seat foam does seem to be higher guality than on the stock seat. I'm glad I got it. I think I paid around 70 bucks for it.

I also have an SDG seat -tall foam, firm? Found it on ebay for $60, and I love it. My recent Baja ride had a 2nd day ouchy in it, and I rode pretty much the next 1400 miles with my ass firmly on the seat. The SDG was fine.

I have the travelcade gel seat also, with the spandura cover (spandex/cordura blend). Very comfortable, same shape as stock, breathes well and dries out fast if wet.:1drink

I've had a Moose, an SDG tall soft, and a Renazco, in addition to stock.

The Renazco is much, much, much better than the other options. Not even close.

    Try bicycle shorts first!

i use the EVS padded shorts for a tiny bit more hip protection.

Most bike shorts have a gel that cradles your taint.

That might get you a few more miles w/o any seat surgery.

    Good luck!

I found alot of replacement seats from different manufatures for my 01 xr650r but they all seem to carry either standard or tall. I'm looking for a low one so i can reach the ground a little better. I took almost an inch of foam out of the seat that was on it but now it looks real funny and i can hardly ever sit on it because its too uncomfortable so i stand most of the time. I only offroad on it and would love to find a replacement seat for it which is lower than standard.
