Hey guys, I just picked up a '09 Beta 525rs a couple of weeks ago and i'm loving every second of it. I got a hell of a deal, and it only has 1400 miles on it. I sold my Yamaha Xt225 to get this bike, and damn is it quite the upgrade. SO much power is on tap at all times. A completely different animal than my XT was, thats for sure. Im in the process of installing an ignition on it at the moment since the previous owner lost the keys to the steering lock. I also feel like a kid in a candy store while looking on Americanbeta.com. That site is amazing! Im happy that I found this thread, and I definitely have some questions for you guys but I'm going to do some searching first. Just wanted to say whats up!

I've got a pretty good question for you guys, as I'm stumped on it. So the button on my digital display doesn't work, and was like that when I got it. There is also a two prong connector that has nothing to connect to around my headlight. It is just hanging there. The beta dealer I took it to didn't know what it was and ended up connecting a couple of wires to it and crossing them and the display lit up and it started cycling through the modes, which i didn't even know it had. The mode it has been on says TOD next to the mileage. What does this mode mean? Does anybody know what that two prong connector is? Also now after doing this, my speedometer is way off and it only shows half the speed I'm actually going. Needless to say, I am not happy about this. My bike is a 2009 525rs. I can put pictures up later tonight if needed. Thank in advance guys.

May have to re-input the tire circumference. If it's not correct, the speedo will be off.
I have a Beta but the manual is on a disc that's for Windows; I have a Mac so I can't read it and help with info on the odo.

If it's like a KTM, those wires are for a remote switch, so jumping them together would be like holding the button down.

Go to Betariders.org or Thumpertalk/bike specific / Beta for lots of good technical information. That is one clean Beta, welcome to the club.

American Beta website has free manuals on their website under the "support" tab.

    Good answers above as well.

Thanks for all of the answers guys. I am taking it back in to the shop tomorrow, and will relay what I have learned here.

So since my toggle button doesn't work, I'm guessing there is something I could buy and plug in to that outlet to switch modes?

Yes, AmericanBeta.com has the manuals. Chapter 11 of the 2009 RS manual has the schematic. You should be able to find the connector on that schematic and see what it is for.

Missed out on Happy Seal's Beta. Anyone else have one they're considering selling for under 5k? My interest in the Italian exotic has been aroused :lol3

I have a 2012 520 RS with 3 hours. Love looking at it, just no time to ride. In reality just a little too old to do it justice. In lower AL with extras. No idea of value, but have $10k in it. Perfect and just like new.

Yes, send them an email at info@americanbeta.com. They put mine up. Ilikepowerwheelies, I feel bad about you missing out on my bike. I would ask about that bike above in Alabama. Beta is a great little company. If I had the money I would open in Ct, a small exotic shop.

For what it is worth, I went to a Customer Appreciation Day at a local Bike Shop (Newnan, GA) and they had a new unsold 2011 Beta 520 RS for sale.

I think the price they had on the bike was $8500. Pretty sure they were open to some negotiation though.
