hey guys, out last weekend and after a good ride, the bike started making a scrubbing sound from the lower end. was not able to tell which side it was coming from but it was consistent with engine speed. I have drained the oil from it and there are no signs of destruction yet, getting ready to take off the outer case and see whats going on inside. Any thoughts or ideas? Also, anyone know of a good carb tuning guy near Athens GA?

Difficult to tell with this little information, could be everything, from a broken spring up to a broken reed.

I would take a look inside taking off the clutch case and check the internal components. Then too check the reeds. They can fail too especially when made out of plastic.

I got the clutch cover off and haven't seen anything that looks out of place or broken. Going to go ahead and either do the clutch fix or replace the clutches and go back together. Is there anything with the stator that can rattle/scrub?

Is the flywheel tight as in no play? Crank bearings? If you have a puller you can check behind it for a loose stator. I've had several Betas with no problems at all, but anything is possible. Good luck!

Scubbing noise is usually just the plastic flywheel cover.

so scrubbing noise was from the flywheel touching the cover, guess it wasnt tight and had shifted back to touch the flywheel.
