So, pretty much Type 2 fun. I've been following the bikepacking scene for a few years. Looks like a ton of fun in the social media posts I see. I did some multi-day rides back when it was called "touring". I recall that being Type 3 fun. AKA no fun at all. I'm still eyeballing frame bags and crap for my OG Krampus. This won't end well.

I remember that ride. That is what got me looking at that Rocky Mountain 27 thing. I don't know if I could pull that off.
I got a long motorcycle ride planned this year. Maybe in a year or two I'll be in shape and be able to justify another bicycle. Meaning the KTM would need to leave or I win the lottery.
Oh, we looked at a house/half a duplex this morning on our walk. We win a lottery we're buying it. Not, big, but pushes all the right buttons. 180 degree ocean view from the rooftop patio where there is a gas fireplace, lots of room for seating.
Seriously cool. Nice sized garage for my stuff. and a big kitchen. No yard.

Finished one of my list of tasks for the month. Tomorrow the sofa shows up so we're finishing getting the room ready for that.
I've probably used my back enough today. I still need to walk to North Beach and back with Lois for her to catch a train to have dinner with friends. I'll be grilling chicken I've had soaking in some stuff.

I keep looking at surfboard racks for my Rocky.:jkam
I'm liking the seat post mount.

    I'd be taking a bike I paid $600 for.
Of course, that was before b+ wheels, but still, these aren't mega millions' dreams.

I'd be taking a bike that doubles as a swimming pool.

If that guy needs 10 liters, this midwestern as frick great lakes boy is going to need like... a heck of a lot of water.

I may have to make some sacrifices for such extreme conditions.

Last Zwift session of the season. Letting the subscription lapse and will re-evaluate in November.

I’ve been wanting to do the new mountain, so I figured today was the day. It’s just over 1000m and took me 85 minutes of suffering. It truly sucked and I almost climbed off the trainer an hour into the climb.

Glad I did it, but won’t be jumping up and down to do that again!

I've got some you can have, and I've got some you'll have to buy.

Let me double check, but I'm pretty sure I have some Avids you can have for shipping. ...and I have a pair of NIB XT 8000 (or the gen before, I forget) that I can sell. If you don't want to spend the $$ on the XTs, I have some Deores I'll sell for cheap. No discs tho. I need all of em I can get

There's a pair of new FNs coming. I'm having a pair of custom AL CX disc TA race bikes made. :clap I've been buying up carbon tubular CX disc wheels lately. ...and selling off rim brake wheels.

edited to add: speaking of water... Went out riding this PM. Coupla sprinkles at the beginning so I kitted up and rode over to Haymarket to see if anyone else was silly enough to go out. Hung out at the shop for a few, saw more rain coming, so got my rain jacket on and went out.

    ...then the skies opened up!

Rode out of it, wandered over to the country club, went left on Mountain Rd, right again on Waterfall which was a waterfall today 'cause it was coming down in buckets. Over to The Plains and back in on Rt 55. ...when I rode back into the rain again as it was ending. All in all, not quite 2hrs when everyone else was sitting on the couch kvetching about the weather

Is there really that much difference?

I found plenty of water on tonight's ride, and some accompanying drums, with a light show at the end. Worst.concert.evar.

You have my attention. I'll PM. I did just order a couple sets of Magura MT2(like 20 minutes ago), so interested to see how those are.

Best I could tell combing through the interwebs is that the MT2s are roughly equivalent to the XTs. Some say the Magura brakes have better modulation feel, and many say the Shimano are more on/off.

So many shimano variations, I get a bit confused...

One of my bikes getting brakes is my homemade ebike with 4HP motor, so I need real braking power there.*

*If you hate ebikes, let's not squabble about it here. Just breathe deeply, assume I'm a horrible person who got bored with rapin', pillaging, murdering, and mean-mugging at puppies; decided to build ebikes instead, and we can all move on.

I do not regard e-bikes as bicycles. They are underpowered motorcycles that are unregulated and clog up walking paths and byways.
I do not like them Sam I am. I do not like them with green eggs and ham.

Clamp a motor on a bicycle and you are sitting on your ass and watching the world go by, not exercising.
    Utter nonsense.
