it's time to get the big bikes out and enjoy the scenic and mild ride to CARRIZO AND POZO...:clap estimated round trip from my house is 380 miles, but really depends where you're starting from.

perfect for nOObs, new gs/lc8 owners, and pretty much for everyone who's looking for a nice friendly ride. medium bikes like 600 and up with tall gears will do just fine. small bikes, you need to trailer them to carrizo.

EDITED 01-08-09: the plan is meet in ojai for breakfast @ 9am. and based on the # of riders on the IN list, we can determine which restaurant to make the reservation. those coming from los angeles will meet at the gas station at the roxford exit off the 5. ventu, camarillo and santa clarita riders can meet us at the CORNER GAS STATION in santa paula on hw150 (OJAI RD) @ hw126.

after breakfast, we ride via hw33 (twisty pavement) to maricopa, get gas and ride into carrizo plain (easy dirt).

then head to pozo (easy dirt fire roads) for lunch. in the afternoon, we'll take hi mountain rd (some sections were rocky and water crossing) to lopez lake. those who prefer another route home, can turn around and back track or take the pavement to arroyo grande to hw101.

    2009 january ride:

last year others almost froze themselves to death on the way home...:vardy

heated grips and vest are great to have!...:thumb
warm clothing and thick gloves maybe ok.

    Joel!

Sounds like fun but I'll have to play it by ear.

Also, yur gettin' people lost in you first post. Hwy 33 doesn't cross the 126 in Santa Pauls. I think you mean Hwy 150 & 126

I'll keep my eye on the thread

The P.C. only has 87 octane though. Great pit stop and restrooms though!

will help you pick it up....:freaky :clap ...

The Strom is a perfect bike for this ride...there are some dirt sections that if wet can be an issue...take it slow and steady and it will be fine....plus the bike looks better with some scratches....:clap

The 690 likes the high octane but maricopa is out of the way for me
    coming from ventura.
Mike some day we'll ride some of what's around my back yard
the 690 is a good bike for most of it. but that's another ride

    Hi Cathy
Don't scratch the new bike but do ride it... hi mountain rd is the only
road that could be and issue. I did most of this loop on a drz once
the dirt was fun but the slab... well you know
