Hi Everyone, Just picked up a 2007 Bandit 1250 ABS over the weekend. : I was selling my 09 VStrom 650 because I wanted to get something with more power (a lot!). The Strom was a fun little bike, but I missed having a hooligan bike. Someone in Asheville, NC contacted me about my listing for the bike, we haggled back and forth for a couple of weeks and then worked out the deal, which meant ROAD TRIP! Big Mama had been bugging me to take a road trip ever since she bought her Versys over the winter, so when I asked her if she wanted to come with me on a long boring 1,500 mile ride over the weekend she was all for it! We left Tampa on Thursday afternoon and stopped in Macon for the night. Friday morning we had a good breakfast and headed the rest of the way to Asheville, where we met up with the seller and did our whole bike swapping thing. Here is my beast! My bike had a good bit of farkling, he had added some stuff to his bike as well, I had 4,200 miles, he had 7,000 and I got his bike and a more than fair amount of $$ for my bike so everyone ended up happy! When we left the seller's house, we headed up to Kingsport, TN to spend the night at a buddy's house. Once we got up there, he and his wife took us out drinking for the night. The rest of the night is kind of a blur... The next morning, I told Big Mama (who thought we were slabbing it all the way back home) that I had a surprise for her and then I led her down 3 hours of back roads to Deal's Gap (she had never really ridden anywhere outside of Florida prior to this trip). When we did our first pass on the Dragon, I had a few minutes to kill at the other end so I was able to get some more bike porn. Here comes Big Mama! Then we went back over the Dragon again, stopped for the obligatory picture next to the tree of shame and headed over the Cherohala Skyway to Tellico Plains where we stopped at Tellico Fish Camp for an awesome catfish dinner. I highly recommend the place! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tellico-Fish-Camp/174796385870754 After dinner, we headed over to Atlanta, which involved a couple of hours of nighttime riding on twisty mountain roads. Big Mama did not like that at all (and I learned that the Bandit's headlight is nowhere near as good as the one on the VStrom was). Sunday morning, we had a wonderful, upscale breakfast in a very affluent section of Atlanta and then slabbed it back to Tampa. What a great weekend!
