    Dual Sport 101
Saturday has an optional route that is suitable for those who desire to develop skills without the pressure to keep-up with the pack. Saturday will begin with a discussion about essentials; proper tire inflation (deflation), how to read a Roll Chart, navigating ruts, riding over small logs, etc. The day's route will be shorter and the pace will be slower. Men and women and all ages are invited. Sunday's route will be the standard route when you can opt-in or opt-out of the more challenging single-track sections. $110
NOTE: this is not designed to teach you how to ride a motorcycle; see Wisconsin Off Road Adventures for beginner rider training.
Dual Sport Ride - Off Road
Dual Sport is a type of motorcycle riding which is a mix of off road trails connected with the use of roads. Trails are used with permission and/or permits through the USFS, County forests, and private landowners. Trails range from 2 track, gravel, minimal pavement (as little as we can), and single track sections that are optional- Saturday's route is usually about 130 miles and Sunday's route is usually about 80 miles (though miles and routes change often yearly). The motorcycles are street legal motorcycles that are fully off road capable. $110
    Adventure Ride - Big Bike
This is for GS1200, GS800, V-Strom, Super Tenere, Tiger, KLR650 and similar larger bikes. The route involves minimal asphalt, many miles of gravel, a few miles of sandy roads and enough 4wd trail miles to develop new skills. Some of the 4wd trails are listed as optional Hero Sections because of the extra challenge. Saturday's route is usually ~200 miles and Sunday's route is usually ~100 miles. Suitable off-road tires are required! $110.
This event is held in Wabeno, WI. Includes:
    • Saturday lunch and dinner and Sunday breakfast
    • Paper Roll Chart and/or .gpx tracks
    • Event T-shirt
    • Free on premise camping with showers
American Motorcycle Association membership is required. Click here to become an AMA member.
We prefer electronic registration via the Register for BW200 button. For mail-in registration download form or contact treasurer-WDSR@outlook.com to request a paper registration form.

    Our Refund Policy
No refunds within two weeks of the event. Refunds are on a case by case basis and a check may be issued.

Looking forward to another great weekend in the northwoods of Wabeno:muutt

This reply is for the ADV riders. There are some ADV riders who come to a Dual Sport event because they want more challenge than a gravel road. Wisconsin Dual Sport Riders, Inc. heard your feedback about the 2017 Ride For Research in June. TOO EASY#$%!!! For 2017 Big Woods 200 the Saturday loop will have at least seven optional 'hero' sections. None of these are single track. But we selected some challenging 4WD/two-track. The optional sections will be rated Easy, Medium and Difficult. Don't go into a Medium or Difficult without suitable off-road tires.

Aside from the optional hero sections the main route will use less gravel and more two-track than the 2017 RFR loop. For those of you not seeking the extra challenge we've added, don't worry. Just stay on the main route and travel slower!

On Sat Aug 12 I and another ADV'r pre-rode WDSR's BW200 Saturday tracks to inspect for issues. We four obstructing trees. They were all on the section Cannon lists as NWAT1. Today I cleared them with a chainsaw.
Wow! It now has 9 hero sections. 2-easy, 5-medium and 2 difficult. Each is 0.5mi-1.0mi. They are all first-gear stuff. Knobby-tired Adventure Bike riders will really like those hero sections.

Myself and another rider Boone docked this section on the Friday before the R4R. It was a bit painful and fun at the same time. Seemed we would go around one clump of downed trees to discover several more following. We survived it with a grimace of joy...

I signed up for the big bike adventure ride. I have a klr with full knobby tires. I'm hoping there will be some fun sections in it. I just didn't want to slow down the little bikes in the main ride.

I rode that route this past trail setup weekend; there are definitely some fun and challenging sections. I didn't find the terrain much different than the dual sport route, its just a different route to keep the groups split up to avoid congestion. Gravel, sand, grassy 2track, dirt and mud.

Props for adding back in so many hero sections and clearing up the trails for others. I pulled the trigger on a XR650L hoping to be able to hang more with the DS riders, but it's good to know I can fall back to the uncrowded fun of the ADV route. The KLR on the DS route was a hand full. I'm hoping that I can get a few more people into the fun, and the ADV route is a great entry point. Great work!

What a amazing event. I just started riding this summer (might of seen me on the KLR with the tan graphics) the ride was awesome but I think the real treat is meeting all the wonderful people. Everyone made me feel very welcome, the ADV riders especially seem to have a little more down to earth calm attitude when it comes to new people and I truly appreciate it. Can't wait for next year!

Cody TFD-Was a great weekend, glad you had fun. We had a nice group for the ADV both days. Look forward to riding with you again in the spring.

The club is also looking for members/volunteers if you just cant get enough of this stuff :-)
We typically have 2 work weekends before each event...free lodging and we feed you Saturday and Sunday. It is a lot of work, but a heck of a lot of fun. Oh, and if you work both weekends your entrance fee is waived for the event.

You can keep an eye on our website for open membership at the beginning of the year.

We got some good feedback from riders as they left the campgrounds. If you have some comments/concerns feel free to contact the president on our website.

WDSR had a photographer running around that day too. I wonder if those are up yet?

No pics from me. I find the GoPro distracting anymore. It's much more fun to tell the epic stories than watch them as it always looks easier in the video.
