I am planning to be in NZ late 2014 and was wondering if there is likely to be any other travellers around at that time who may be planning on selling a bike anything considered

    cheers Spud

What's your budget mate? Will let you know if I hear of anything locally.

    Cheers

Thank you, im desperately saving at the moment and may sell a DR 350 here to fund a bike there, I have thought of shipping the DR over as I can store it with a mate when I leave and then go back later and finish my tour off with the north island.
Not sure of the rules on importing and leaving a bike though

Budget depending on exchange rate 3k ish may be able to squeeze a little more for the right bike

This is the best spot for finding second hand bikes in NZ. You could check it out a month or two before you come over - just make sure the bike has a current warrant of fitness and rego - good luck with the search.

Threadjack, but on topic. What are the ABS laws for road bikes in NZ?

You don't need ABS, there are some quite large riders here in NZ with ample beer bellies... In fact it helps with the rough roads....absorbs the bumps. :rofl
