The good stuff, an it's not even 11:00 yet.
It's on Todd, I don't have the picture. Just the memory, She loved me I tell you and she had a pretty face.
Great report guys
I guess there's more in my gin than just tonic...
What happened to that pic.......
Paging Rueben to the White Courtesy Phone.
she said she loved me I swear it
LOL, I had no idea what you were talking about... That is too funny. Fortunately for me, he is the only one with a picture of me doing the Buffalo. Hopefully he stays on the mother ship.
Maybe later, we can come back to when Rob dances with wolves.....
Well just before leaving Salida, I stopped in to see Hayduke of Fattees, while Rob and the Green guy had some brunch.
I was needing one of those Butler maps and wanted to ask about some local riding secrets.
Then (I) we got lost... I zigged when I should have zagged.. We could see roads everywhere..we just could get to them.
It was hotter than a furnace..
Getting lost can be for the good....as long as your not about to run out of gas.:eek1 Like Rob.
Trying to get even more lost.
The green guy is still with us.
So let go straight down the hill fully loaded....its the easiest
We were looking for a short cut to the road in the valley when we stumbled upon this. This appeared to be an old cowboy strong hold. Wow!
It was also the end of the road. Again.
ok...time to back track.....again.
We finally find the right gate Now its on like donky kong..Ripping up the double track and having a blast when suddenly I find myself riding alone.:huh
I turned around back tracked once again to find this.
just picking up the pieces

Wow, and to think Rob gave ME a hard time about my bike lying across the trail up on Ophir.... Uh, huh. I see how it is. Hey Rob, you want me to help, you pick up your bike?
Rob, I see you've learned the art of tweaking the side racks back into place.
Great pics and report guys! I'm jealous.
The cases are Pelican cases and require not tweaking. The racks are SW Motech and probably saved my bike from being totaled. The weak link is the core lock that holds one to the other. Once it fails there is no repairing them. Zip ties were the solution and did a great job as substitute locks. That damned puddle is or was way deeper then it looked. All the wetness all around it and dripping of the leaves is from me disappearing into it. I knew the Green Guy was filming and the worst of the trail was behind us. I always ride around puddles, but I figured this time this one could not be more then a couple inches deep. No ruts going in, no ruts coming out, level trail. I down shifted fanned the clutch, got the front light. What could possibly go wrong? Then the bike fell out from underneath me. I recall a strange weightless felling right before the impact.
Todd the video link did not work for me. Unless you wanted me to see a commercial on hormone free birth control followed by a Godsmack video.
Here's a few more pictures.
In this one you can see that once I defied gravity I flew a fairly long distance before touching down again. The first of the drag marks begin at the end of the splash mark.
Broke my GoPro mount during the crash. It captured a really interesting shot I will try to find.
Total damage, looks to be broken left side mirror, front turn signal and the afore mentioned luggage rack lock.
Lulu, you can help me pick my bike up anytime, or you can stand by and watch. I have gotten pretty good at it. Why do you think it was so easy for me to pick up your?

Ok, It's been almost a week of riding so far and we are just now getting to West Fest. Time to see old friends and make new ones. We now have Salida in the rear view and headed to Lake George.
Rob or Rueben add pic if you got'em.
Thanks, Red Bud. I think. Did I leave the word bike off or is that what you fixed? I almost always type too fast. By now you all can also tell I rarely proof read what I type, ADD and
Dyslexia make fore some interesting typos. Add two that, I never learned to spell.
On with the story. We get to the WestFest location mid afternoon. Have to find a place to set up a tent. It had rained a fair amount over the previous days so it was easy to determine where all the runoff goes. Exactly to all the remaining level spots. I noticed this really flat area that appeared to drain well and for some reason no one had set up there. It was large enough to hold three tents. We staked our claim and started to set up right as the rain began.
It did mean however that the dance floor would become unavailable. Fortunately someone had an enclosed trailer wired for sound that worked better given the weather. I hear even Buddy Holly made an appearance.
A dance floor and loud music--it's the only thing RMAR was missing. Drinking and dancing--what could go wrong.
Nice pic. I need to find out more about West Fest from you. Since I live here, I should be hitting that one up too.
Here is what went wrong. Since there was a fire ban in effect, there was no fire to gather around. We gathered around this in stead.
Note this is happening right in front of my tent. Little did I know then but the stage had been set. This was party central fore or not.
Some of the usual suspects getting warmed up.
REmember this face. He returns to the story a little later.
This guy too
There was some shine involved so things get a little foggy after the sun went down. At some point i climbed into my tent. Most of those shown above were also headed off for a night of slumber. All was well and it was getting quiet till the drunks (ah folks) from the dance trailer, got their second wind. I had visited them earlier but by then they had hit a wall and were in that "groggy state of late afternoon had too much to drink I'm sleepy but can't sleep place."
So this group headed up by advtenn start to wind up outside my tent. I shook it off fell asleep anyway. All was well until someone would say something funny and advtenn, I believe, would stomp his foot on the dance floor when he would laugh. Some one pulled out cheese and crackers. Oh god this is going to go on for a little longer. At some point someone outside, AdventrueGirl, I think sees my tent move and says something like "Someone is sleeping in that tent? That's hardcore". Another nap then I hear "we are out of cheese" YES, finally. One of the vampires still awake proclaims "I've got backup cheese". That is when I got up. There could not be back up cheese. Thankfully all it took was just stating no back up cheese. They offered little resistance and most wandered off to bed right then. the rest were not far behind.
So the nexts days ride plans are set.
We back track to Salida. We take the route where Rob's bike took a nap and we also revisited the cowboy strong hold site.
After that, we ate lunch in Salida and then headed for Canyon City. There we picked up Skyland Drive ans Shelf Road up to Cripple Creek.
This is where the thread may get a little confusing.:huh This is the day that I go to meet my wife and Rob gathers a posse and wanders aimlessly until Lori and I meet him in Silverton, at RMAR.
So fair warning...this thread is will flip back and forth from me and Lori to Rob and his posse for the next few days.
Sunday has arrived and it time to head toward DIA. to pick up advtenn wife. She flys in today and we will be riding together for the next few days. This is her first time to Colorado. First stop was Boulder, we found a really cool place to eat called "Southern Sun" Then it was off to Neaderland for the night.
We saw these guys climbing rocks on the road side. Gotta look close!
We wanted to tour the Coors brewery in Golden the next day, but they we closed to tours.:huh
Next stop...Mt Evans
Would ya look at who we met at the top
Land and RubenRN
