There's a lot of breast cancer going around now with very young women. The one thing many have in common is where they keep their cell phones. NO BULLSHIT. Tell your ladies to keep their phones elsewhere.

Absolutely. I think there was a CDC bulletin about it. Cell phones emit low levels of radiation constantly. Levels supposedly deemed "safe" to be held to your face. However, one report stated breast tissue is far more susceptible to low levels of radiation then facial tissues.

I believe that the only time you would have to be concerned is when the phone is transmitting, not receiving. So unless one is using a headset and mic setup, having the phone stuck in a nice "padded" location like the one shown shouldn't be a problem.

Some studies are being done and early findings show it's the radiation. Transmitting or receiving is netting close to the same levels and breast tissue is much more susceptible to cancer cells being formed. Not to hijack the thread, just a polite warning to those who know people that store their phones in their bras, shirts etc.

Back on topic, I don't have any pics with the wife and either bike that I can share without offending people. I'll take some soon. Realized I actually have almost no photos of her, me or us without the kids!

The phone transmits burst all the time, not just when your having a conversation. There is a whole bunch of conversation that goes on between the phone and the towers all the time. .

Now it has not been ruled "conclusive evidence" that it causes cancer...... but even as a Ham radio operator, I have to maintain a book about what "near field" and "far field" RF exposure I create and on what frequencies....

Nope, simply not true. Transmitting and receiving are very different levels. You dont even have to have a cell phone to be exposed to the receive levels. Cell towers, much like radio towers, broadcast a signal at a certain frequency range. The signals are there, regardless of the presence of the phone or radio receiver. Each antenna has 3 transmitters, transmitting at slightly different frequencies with 120 degrees of coverage each. Put all the towers together, and you end up with a coverage map that looks like "cells", hence the term "cell phone."

Smart phones are IP devices, which is how they discern which packets on the signal are intended for them, and which ones are not. It has nothing to do with the frequency itself, since all carriers work off the same frequency ranges.

However, smart phones are NEVER truly idle. Smart phones, even when untouched, will transmit short bursts of RF EMF/EMR to communicate with the tower. The more apps and widgets you have, the more frequently this is happening. The phone will transmit most frequently when connected to WiFi. This is due to how a WiFi router works as compared to a GSM/CDMA network. Surf the net or sync your email, and you'll see strong steady blasts of RF EMF.

I guess YOU should be conducting one of these studies then. A lot 15-19 year olds ARE getting breast cancer and the cancer's are actually metastasizing exactly where they regularly keep their phones. (Near or at their chests) Coincidence I guess?

It would stand to reason based on this (The more apps and widgets you have, the more frequently this is happening. ) that teenage girls are therefor more likely to have cancer develop due to their choice of storage. Thanks for the cellphone lesson though.

This is off topic for this thread. MORE PICS PLEASE.

I never said they didn't cause cancer, I simply pointed out that your statement on how they worked was flawed. I've been designing RF networks for a very long time, mostly at the satellite level, and am extremely familiar with how RF devices affect the body. I have even participated in a few studies on the subject. The point being that when it comes to phones, receive from the tower is not the problem, but rather transmit from the phone. Unless, of course, you frequently stand within 50ft of a tower.

Obligatory pic. Not on a bike, but preggers and helping build a table to hold an engine stand.

I used to think my wife was the smart one too, until I realized that she couldn't be very smart if she married me.
