I'm waiting for some of the pictures to start coming out. I emailed this guy to see if he had more of the bikes. The weather was so crappy that I'm not surprised the media is at a minimum. I never even hooked up my go-pro because you wouldn't be able to see anything.

Awesome pic! Looking good country doc!!!

Great event! Saturday night was a mission to stay alive and still try and put down fast stage times. The battle with Tom all day sunday was so close, seconds apart after each stage. He is crazy fast on that 400! He would have had me for sure if we were both riding that bike. Day one Tom waited for me several times to help navigate the transits. Due to the monsoon conditions my road-book was a bit of a mess. Without even asking he waited to help me out, a true sportsman. Great to know people are there to help even if your seconds apart for 1st. Thanks Tom! Great to meet everyone, a great group of people to race with.

    Cheers,

    Devon

Yeah Devon that was a blast when it was a bit dryer. If I could have seen anything on the Saturday stages we might have finished a bit closer. Ditching the goggles was a good move. Great group of guys this weekend. I'm not too fussed about losing since I think I won the championship for Dakar Class and the overall title? I should get 31 points for BRS which puts me at 62 points total, and nobody in the top 5 overall other than Kevin ran BRS, and because of his DNF I'm pretty sure I got it? Dan should have second with 52 points I think.

Also keep in mind that RWV and BRS are "double points" so they are worth twice the points at Sandblast. Since the only other 2 finishers in Dakar class at BRS were me and John and neither of us ran any other races you certainly have the Dakar class championship, likely the overall as well.

Congrats! you rode the wheels off that DRZ.

Was good racing with all you guys. Felt good to get back into it even though I had some serious confidence issues after my crash last year.

I'll echo what Doug said; it was a great weekend hanging out and racing with you guys. I've said this before but it bears repeating - the group of guys racing rallies/Rallymoto is just a really solid bunch of interesting, talented, competitive, sportsmanlike folks and it absolutely *makes* the weekend to enjoy the experience with all of my fellow racers.

To be honest, BRS was pretty frustrating as a race in and of itself. There was relatively little racing, very short stages, and long delays. The weather didn't help, and the stage cancellations on the first day, and extensive delays on the second day made for a whole lot of standing around. Imagine how frustrating that would be with a lesser group of guys! As it was, we all enjoyed each others company in spite of the scheduling difficulties.

Out on stage, a lot of those annoyances did melt away, but I couldn't help but wonder how great it would be to minimize those wait times, and lengthen the stages out. May not be possible in that geographic location though.

I don't remember it being as frustrating in 2009, but that was my first rally, and I may have been spoiled by the long stages and clockwork organization of Rally West Virginia (although that is helped in part by several extremely long liaison sections in between racing).

I agree with the standing around, but I did enjoy the short stage format. It kept the times really close and didn't allow for any mistakes. You could lose a lot on the stages but not gain much, so you almost had to be flawless on every one. WV you could make mistakes and recover from them over the remaining 15 miles, as many of us proved haha. I loved the stages and thought they were a blast to ride, nicer weather and less delays would have made it perfect.

Immediately after BRS I went on a 2 week road trip for work. I got home Friday night. I'm just catching up with everyday life now.

My BMW 450 radiator got punctured at some point. It ended my rally Sunday morning after the first stage. I was very disappointed to say the least. I was having a great time with everybody. TJ's 450 fuel pump crapped out, too. So we both headed home in my van Sunday afternoon. Not what we had planned.

I did get a little video from the stages I did run. These are essentially unedited clips of the entire stage. No fancy movie making this time.
