I'm thinking about the 480 kit. :brow It's time for an engine rebuild anyway...

    Thoughts, anyone?

Went for a ride with my son on his G today. He just can't stay away from power lines.

    The steeper, the better.

That's the thing. BMW wants a complete motor rebuild at 70 hours. I'm well over that mark and have not done the rebuild. I figured if I was going to break it apart, why not add a little something to it. I know one guy that has installed the kit. He also did some custom ECU work. It was a little tough to get sorted out, but in the end he found the bike to have quite a power difference. I should start working on it now so that I can run it in Sandblast Rally if I decide to go again.

Ah,,if you pull it apart and the lowers tight the top end swap should be easy enough.
If your buddy did it you should have a place to start with the ECU.
What about headwork. You gonna have to let it breath in and out more freely?
480cc you should still be in the Dakar class right?Xmoto's gona try Sand Blast this year, been mull'n it over myself.:evil

Question is... does Speedbrain have any more? It's not listed on their webpage now... I have a feeling they're winding down all the G450RR stuff and concentrating now on the Husqvana.
However, probably something from the Husqvana TE511 would probably fit.

    Hello,
Yes they fit perfectly, I received my bike yesterday with the husky 480 cc cylinder and piston. Just ride it around my house everything is ok not changed anything on the compu, I´ll try it on the desert saturday to give you my real opinion on power change.

    Greatings from Perú!

exact same motor between the Husky and BMW.. riught? It was the chassis and suspension that changed, they used the same powerplant, I thought.

one day Im going to try one of these little bikes in a rallymoto :evil

I think also changed engine management settings, gearbox (6) probably some internals

The piston head design is different, husky is more round (hemispherical type), bmw´s is more cubic, but fit.

I thought the 70 hrs was an inspection interval not a manditory time between overhalls.

I have 143 hrs and no problems yet by just running expensive oil and changing it a lot.

70 hours is a race spec, i bet. If you revved its guts out for 70 race hours, i bet the crank bearings and piston would be getting awfully tired, and if your racing mattered to you, why would you push it?
