Anyone got a Speedbrain or Touratech seat they want to part with, or loan so I can copy the seat pan?
30 minutes later and such a nice set pictures that show all the electrical connection including the power plug
Speedbrain does not have it anymore and I wrote an email directly to Blackbird. But Blackbird answered me, that they will not produce it for the moment. I told them that a lot want this seat, but ,,,

Particularly for Sandblast Rally, I've changed my extra fuel carrying configuration. I've bolted on a Roto-pax 1 gallon fuel container.
In the past I have used MSR fuel bottles in a canvas bag secured to the rear fender. I think the Roto-pax is a better alternative. It's more secure and carries more gas.

That does look like a great option - now show us how/what you bolted it to; snap a photo with the pax detached.
Unfortunately, for us, I think "a lot" is what, maybe 20 people? Seems like even the majority of the guys here on this forum have put their G's up for sale on the Flea Market in the last year.

Will the subframe handle the weight?
I used the round base to provide better support. The instructions say that the upright base can be secured by itself. I thought using 4 bolts to secure the base would be twice as strong as two.
So at what point or points is the subframe prone to cracks with added weight like a giant loop or fuel containers?
I've been talking to a frame shop about having a structural subframe made to eliminate the concern. He was asking about where the failures have been.
Would anybody else be interested? PM if you would like to be kept in the loop about this. Its still early in the process, but should have a cost estimate in a couple of weeks.
I got one... my friend fabricated brackets that sit on top of the subframe that bolt all the way through.. the tail is 100 times stronger now.. well worth it if you want luggage.
I have the BB seat and I don't think it is really an upgrade from stock given how much you give up on the comfort side. I am not sure you are missing anything.
That's a sure way to a cracked subframe, I've gone through 3 different re-inforced subframes with a kolpin fuel can in the same location and gave up, fortunately I've got a 3.2 gallon midship tank now That rotopax will likely survive the rally but I wouldn't use it any other time or with any regularity. I only got 3-4 dual sport rides before the first failure, and less with subsequent re-engineering.
Also I've seen the rotopax mount set-up shear the bolt right off,.......particularly on the ole mans F650GS Dakar 2 weeks ago in S America, wont ever see that gas can again, fortunately we didn't end up "needing" it
Might be able to loan you one as I have both a Speedbrain unmolested seat along with a Renazco altered speedbrain seat, however I use the virgin seat more and will definitely be needing it through the Sandblast rally in early March. There is also a stamped seat bracket that goes with the Speedbrain seat you'd have to re-manufacture, but that would be an easy hurdle in comparison.
How exactly do you plan to copy the seat pan without removing the covering? There is also a very unique front tongue piece rivetted to the pan, a bit more complex then just a seat pan.
At what locations did the subframe fail??
where the two square hollow tubes meet in triangulation and are welded to a cast tail stem. The first failure the horizontal tubing cracked where the stamped rear plate bolts the two subframes together. Subsequent failures after adding gussets to the tubing were to the cast tail pieces
