do x-moto and x-chal share the same exhaust? can a leo slip on that is spec'd for the x-moto fit on the x-chal?
all three G650X bikes share the same exhaust.
RPM vs Speed for 14,15,16 tooth front sprocket on XChallenge using stock rear tire (Metzler Enduro 3, 140/80x18). Please NOTE: I'm using a calibrated Vapor speedometer on my bike. The inaccurate stock speedo unit will not give you true rpm's unless you know how much error it has.

Put that thing in the vice and flatten the bend near the tip, and bend a new angle approximately where the bend is on the OE shifter. You'll gain some length and it'll tuck in nice and close.
I've hammered those steel ones with rocks to get them straightened out in the middle of the nowhere in Baja after a crash.
Yeah, I thought about it. I decided to return it though and try another one. In any case, I was on a ride with another X Challenge the other day and he had a slow speed fall on a corner and bent his stock aluminum one to shit. He said it was the 2nd time and that he just bent it back with no issues last time and would do so again. The shifter didn't shear, crack, or anything... just bent. So I'm not as worried about a bendy replacement now.
I went ahead and drilled my stock one and put it back on. Then I rebent the steel one to match the stocker and carry it as a spare since they are likely to break where the drill holes are. Better the shifter than the shaft and now I have a drilled thick rebent steel one as a back up.

I'm not sure I'd give up my 12GS for the X... but since the X arrived, the GS has become a garage queen... and used for long distance travel mainly.
I will be doing just that. GSA on the way out, X used for commuting and hurting myself on the weekends, K1200LT possibly on its way in for long distance travel and keeping momma happy.
Since I don't ride long distances anymore, exept for the Raid RidAventure, the Challenge will be a lot more apropriate.
But you can guess, I would keep the GS as a garage queen if I could afford it.

Swap out the ADV sub-frame, put a standard GS sub-frame on it and get some custom seats made and momma will be real happy, and you will still have a Big Trallie overland bike.
You got that thing real nice, if you sell it someone is going to thank you big time...
what is the first service interval for a new gx? and what is involved and how much. This is my first new new bike ever, so I never had warranty before as a factor. If its just an oil change I will just do myself. I dont have my manual here, its with the bike somewhere else.
I had my first service done recently. It was about $150 (Canadian), included an oil change, and was mostly checking and adjusting things like chain, throttle, brake levers, etc. (maintencance schedule available on the BMW motorrad site) It was all stuff within my remedial mechanical abilities, but I had two warranty issues to take care of (cracked rebound adjusting screw, rust on rear axle) and a recall that wasn't done properly on PDI (surclip replacement), so I had them do it all at once.
Anyone do a valve check/ adjustment yet?

Wow, am I wrong, I thought it was every 15,000 miles (give or take)
My paperwork says every 10,000 km, or 6,000 miles. I'm only at 3,000 km, so haven't had it done yet.
I did mine and it 6,000 miles for first check and then every 12,000 miles. It's just like the F650 but less stuff to remove. Mine were right on the money.
