Has anyone had an issue with the NAV VI and it's auto dimming feature? A mate is having problems with his not getting bright enough to see, unless it's switched off auto dimming and set at a manual point. My One month old Nav V is being replaced and upgrade to a Nav VI by BMW, which I'm hoping will be here next week. I'm hoping the dimming issues aren't a further problem.

I haven't had a problem with the screen on mine yet. I never owned the Nav V, so I can't make a comparison between it and thr Nav VI. Sometimes the automatic dimming is a little slow to react, but not to the extent that I would consider going to manual dimming. I've found mine to be adequately bright even in full sun with a sun visor. I have had issues in the past with Garmin auto dimming on the chartplotter on ny boat doing exactly what you friend has described. Hope they get it sorted out.

I am however having problems with the Bluetooth streaming. I get audio dropouts often. I'll create a separate thread though so I don't steer yours of track.

I never used auto dimming/brightness on my Nav V, and I'm not using it on my Nav VI.

When its dark the auto dimming brightness is only 20% which is quite dark...

I've yet to own a Garmin device that hasn't been plagued by one issue or another.

I'm a new Nav VI user (1 week.) I've been using Garmin GPS's since year 2000 and have found them to be incredibly reliable and trustworthy and any plague has been quickly fixed or explained by Garmin. From Pilot to 276 > 478 > ZUMO 665 and now Nav VI which I find to be pretty dang cool.
That being said, I did ride home several hundred miles through day and night a few days ago and noticed that the auto dim did not work. Turned it to manual and haven't reached out yet to Garmin for resolution. If I get an answer from this thread, that saves me a phone call. Thanks.
