Would anyone please PM me the dealer & cost info for Moshe's group buy? Unable to get responses, maybe everyone's out riding. Tour to Yukon coming up, my 5-yr old Garmin Montana keeps taking a nap every 3-5 hours randomly. Time to upgrade.

I asked same thing earlier cause I couldn't figure out how to send PM at this site. No response, so I finally caved in and bought a Nav VI at full price from local dealer, $950... oh well..

Skimmed through all of this and didn't see one post about whether the Nav VI is any better and displaying maps than the Nav V. Does it display any more fidelity than the Nav V's Less | Normal | More Map Detail choices?

The only reason I'd upgrade if it was better at showing me where I'm trying to go and what small roads are around me. I'm not nearly that concerned as everyone else seems to be about playlists, pairing with my phone, etc.

I found the resolution improvement to be very modest. Hardly worth spending the money to upgrade from the V in my opinion.

FWIW I still have not gotten a resolution to the problem with music (the entire reason I purchased the unit) since purchasing it 6 weeks ago. For those interested in that feature, I would postpone purchasing the new unit until the engineers at Garmin have gone back and made things work the way they should have before the unit was released for sale.

So, having played with my Nav VI and Sena S20 for a couple of days now I can report similar findings to others.

    1) only reliable way to pair up devices appears to be to pair everything to the Nav VI. I.e., pair iPhone to Nav VI and S20 to Nav VI. It appears that Nav VI must operate as the hub to get proper functionality which probably makes sense. Maybe...

    2) When initially setting up my S20 and to get the S20 mobile utility to work I had to pair the S20 directly to my iPhone. Later I found that this pairing prevented my iPhone from automatically re-connecting to the Nav VI when restarting all devices again. When this happened I had to manually reconnect my iPhone to Nav VI every time all devices were powered up. To get rid of this issue I had to remove the S20 from the iPhone Bluetooth device list. Then everything connects automatically on power up.

    3) With all devices paired to the Nav VI as hub, media (music) from my iPhone plays fine, but no ability to search, select, skip tracks, etc. Also no info on track is displayed. Have only tried playing to Nav VI using Pandora so far so that might further skew the findings in this case. Being a first time motorcycle headset user I am not that impressed with the sound quality when playing music via the Sena especially at highway speeds with all the wind noise. Honestly don't think I will make much use of that functionality nor the FM radio for that matter. For me main objective was to hear verbal GPS instructions and that has been achieved.

Try adding some of the extra padding to the speakers to get them to sit closer to your ears when you have the helmet on. This made a huge difference for me especially at highway speeds. Not perfect, but much better. Your finding on the Nav VI are the exact as mine. I sent mine back.

Thanks. Will try second set of hook pads if I can get it to all remain in place. Already using one set of the thick pads, speakers probably just mm's from my ears and doing this will mean they will be pressing against my ears which might be what is needed.

So was the disfunctional media interface reason you sent Nav VI back?

I can get everything working, so long as I pair my Sena 10S to the Nav VI, then my iPhone 6 to the Nav VI. I do not pair my phone to the Sena. I stream music (stored on my phone) without any problems, and the media app has album art work etc. I can browse my music within the app too, including playlists. If I want to access Siri (to read text messages, or whatever), I can't use the phone button on the Sena, I have to open the phone app and hit voice dial.

Yes, same pairing method as I am using. I need to further explore the media player, I think using Pandora even in off-line mode may be complicating matters.

It was the reason I sent it back. It's an exchange so I'm hoping the new one will work properly. Not really holding my breath though after reading all this. Will probably get the new one and wait for Garmin to fix this issue. BTW, I did talk with them and they did admit that there is a known issue with the Nav VI and that they are working on a fix. He also did say that some units seem to be working properly but that there is a known problem. This is some kind of Garmin double talk I guess. I just want what everyone here wants in their $950.00 tool and that is for it to work as advertised i.e. with wonderwheel and all. Fingers crossed.....

I just managed to get more action out of the media player by selecting media input as iPhone/iPod instead of Bluetooth. Now cover artwork, etc., shows up on Nav VI screen, but I cannot pause, skip, go back, search and select specific song, etc. I can only start the music and let it play out.

Yes, select "iPhone/iPod". I can browse all my music (stored on the phone, not from a streaming service), and select a playlist, song etc., and FF etc.

You mean you can do this via the wonderwheel?? If so, please tell or retell us your sequence of turning on, pairing etc.....or maybe you are one of the ones that got a good to go unit...

As a side note I've never had a GPS on a bike before and noted that it presents a significant distraction risk whilst riding. Don't want to be fiddlin with your wonder wheel too much when cuttin the twisties... :lol3

Hey chaps - is there any way to make, answer or reject phone calls using the wonder wheel? Seems silly to have the wheel there and still have to reach up to the screen to accept a call ;)

No, not with the wheel, for the most part. Unless I missed something, the wheel can't be used for much in the media app, except FF'ing to the next track, and scrolling up/down. I don't really play with it much while I'm riding. If I want music, I browse playlists before I head out. About all I might do on the bike is adjust volume (and that's with my Sena jog dial), and pause- or restart - music (onscreen on the Nav VI).

I just picked up a navigator 6. I have some questions. 1) Is there a way to reverse a route? 2) When on the map page is there a way to have just the map with no dashboard? 3) Is there someway to make the track lines wider so I can see them better? 4) A lot of the pictures show the backgrounds for the next street name is blue. Mine is green how do you change the background color? Thanks chip

Talked with Garmin on Friday after dealing with the same pairing issues. As they stated to me - its their top priority to correct the streaming/pairing issues. They have found the problem and are writing / testing software to fix the issue. Software update in the works and coming. He wasn't at all shy about saying there are countless cases open from customers regarding this problem. I did ask how they are going to alert us when the update is available - said most likely only be able to notify those that have opened a case. Not biggie for those that haven't - WOM will get the info out there.
