Anybody got experience with the Oilproof clutch from Beemerboneyard,
Pricy but looks interesting?
If the rear main seal leaks, it makes a mess of
the whole clutch/flywheel system, and even an
expensive plate will then slip... So the bike
needs to be opened for seal replacement in
any case. A regular clutch plate is about $100,
so how does it make sense to install a $245 plate?...
No direct experience on oilheads or hexheads but airheads like them.
1. It's waterproof as well as oil proof so you can use the clutch in deep rocky creek crossings and still have drive up the oposite bank.
2. It transmits more power without having to use a heavy diaphram spring.
3. Friction material and pressure plates seem to last longer.
4.The take up zone seem softer, it's easier to control slip with two fingers whilst executing tight turns in difficult terrain
5. When the rear main or gearbox input seal does pass a bit of oil you are still mobile.
6.All BMWs built after 1982 are built to a price and crap OEM components should be replaced with quality aftermarket items whenever posible.
7.It makes me feel good knowing I've improved the spec of the bike.

My mechanic wont warranty something he is not familiar with.
