Thanks for the reply, I was thinking they wouldn't cross over but u never know.
Picked up a '04 R1100S that needed a lot O luv.
Thanks to you folks I was confident that my "super good" deal was going to work out.
Before I made the purchase ... info here had me more than hopeful.
Wont tell you what I paid for my new toy.
It wouldn't go faster than 35mph and had been down @15mph (then just abused)
I took the gamble, and SO glad I did.
The canister that was full of fuel was of the first hour I had her.
That and some Seafoam and new life had come ...
The front fairing bracket was bad ... the plastic came of (and on more than I can count) and now have it "straight"
Some fabricating of jigs ... plastic welding. and glue.
she is looking great.
Changed all the fluids (redline mfg is the next city over)
Y pipe and a bit of can mod has been fun.
I love this bike !
been on 2 and 4 wheels for many years ... this is my first 2 wheeled BMW
Just really wanted to say thanks for all the info.
Hey Wyoming Vern, we need before and after pics. I've had ay 04 for 8 years, while other bikes come and go, this one will always have a home in my garage.
Just bought an 2004 with 10k on the clock!!!
XTC for sure....
Curious if anyone has a photo of their tool tray with ALL of the tools....
Looks like I am missing a couple of items but I have no idea for sure nor do I know what they are....
found this on Pelican
I am completing mine and the "tire kit"
Interesting that RealOEM shows it as a roll
Thanks for the photo!!!
Couple of questions:
What is the white plastic H shaped thing do?
Also do you have a photo of the other side of the tray, with the tools?
I seem to have an open slot and no idea of what goes there.....
The "H Thing" in the earlier photo is a fuse puller
you have the same open areas as I do- in particular the open zone to the right of the allen wrenches- lower right hand corner.....
so if your set is complete, then so is mine!
If the bike looks clean and has been well maintained, how many miles are high miles for the R1100s?
I have my eye on a 1999 with 50K, but it looks pretty good!
My 1100s broke in at around 15k, smoother.
Not sure where to navigate to. I just crashed my 1999 R1100S. I am OK. Bike not so OK... Snapped forks & bent telelever. I scored new forks no problem. My question is: will any front trailer arm work on my bike or am I stuck trying to find one specific to my model bike? Needless to say, I cannot afford to buy the part new.
thanks in advance
There's a few options, places to keep your eye open at.
check it out...
I am looking for thread that was nearly 100 pages long and it dealt with a highly sophisticated modification to the "mapping" of R bikes to modify the lean mix that is controlled by the brain.
It was a link on AdV that was authored by some very knowledgeable guys who then went on to sell this product-
Does anyone know the whereabouts of this?
Are you talking about the "Booster Plug"
They are even available on ebay ...
and good ol google for more info
it was a more sophisticated product-
I think the approach was software based
with similar goals....
Thought I would share a photo from EuroSunday
You have great taste. This was undoubtedly my favorite bike in 25 years of riding....160k miles of smiles before selling her off. Plenty of times I wish I had another 20 hp to play with but other than that I'd been all over this continent and met lots of new people with her.
Not 100 pages, but this tread by roger 04 RT has a lot of information on the fuel injection on the R bikes:
I think he now sells a mod through the Boneyard
This link is the longest I have ever seen and it is very technical
These pros have created a very successful product which addresses many of the R1100S problems. Other companies make similar but not identical products. One thing is for sure, the cost of this item has them all beat.
