    Hi all,

First time short time with being on the board and soon to be on a side car let alone a left side rig. With not going into to much detail I acquired the rig from bmweuro other wise know as Boxer Metal.

last week I came to bmweuro with a cunning plan. The plan is for me to acquire the left side rig, rebuild it, and ride it 400 miles to the 2013 BMW MOA rally.

So far the the cunning plan is playing out without any hiccups. My plans for the rig is to bring it back to life and make it look like the bad ass that it use to be.

The day i got it and after i cleaned it up a bit.

    I love pictures :clap
especially of that drum/wheel adapter. Having a similar problem to solve i'm very curious how the adapter sticks to the drum.

Thanks for posting the pics. Keep them coming along with any comments as the build continues. You have a great person for support and good working conditions.

    Thank you, no problem.

As mentioned before picture overload. Yes, Chris has been a good friend and mentor.

Resealed the motor and found some interesting stuff that has been done to it. I.E.. lightened and balanced connecting rods and lightened wrist pins. I'm pretty sure the crank has been worked as well.

lightened and balanced connecting rod. i did not get a picture of the pins.

the bore and hone marks look good.

motor is 100% resealed and swapped out the stock fly wheel for an 8 tooth starter for a lightened fly wheel for a 9 tooth starter.

the carbs were rebuild as well.

i made some VRRoommmm noises once we got this on. 2 in to one. we had some fitment issues so Chris got a wild hair and decided to rework the pipes.

installed the oil cooler with a thermostat. such a pain in the ass and to top the install i found that one of the bolt hole were partly striped out. i ended up re-taping out the hole and praying to god it worked out. luckly everything worked out.

speedo cable delete. i made this, this morning. i did not have a breather bolt so i tossed a bolt onto the lathe and turned one out. there is a hole that goes the full length of the bolt as well.

i pushed lefty out this morning so i can really see that progress i made on it especially since i pulled an all nighter on it. also notice the steering dampener

    trip 1 140 miles
    7/12/13

Well on friday i got the bike registered and insured so i was able to make a 150 mile trip on Saturday. Chris and i took our rigs to Redding CA to have coffee at the Coffee Bar. The place only had coffee :/.

For me the trip was awesome. The number one thing i like the most is that I made it home alive seeing that this was my first trip on a street bike. During the trip I was able to figure out my fuel mileage so I can plan my stop when I head to Salem this next weekend. another thing is that i was able to get a good feeling for the bike and found that it runs amazing.
