First off, let me introduce myself. My name is Paul live in Boise and I have been a lurker at ADVRIDER for a year now. This is actually my first post. I am interested in meeting you guys for a ride Sunday. The guys I planned on going with wimped out of me.

Secondly, is this a KLR friendly ride or is the a dirt bike ride? I have ridden my KLR at Little Gem and some single track near Featherville so I can get around OK in the dirt but, I just hate having to do a lot of heavy lifting, if you know what I mean. Otherwise I'll bring my old 2 smoke.

Thirdly, if it is a DS ride are you meeting here locally or hauling bikes there?

    Sorry about all the questions.

    Thanks,

    Paul

Let me be the first to say Welcome!! Interesting statment there eh?
No matter what your experience level or machine you ride you will always find somebody in the Treasure Valley of comparable skill and willingness to ride.

If you have never been to Hemmingway OHV I thinkyouwillfind it very interesting. Plenty of everything for every skill level. I've only been there once with RWC but it was a hoot.

RWC and IdahoSam can best advise you if the KLR will make it but of course I know it will. This Sunday I think RWC it bringing his XT and Sam his 2 Stroke KTM. Whatever you bring I think you will find friendly people and a good time.

First off...Stop lurking and just jump right in, the waters fine! We all have DS machine and we all do weekend rides, this however, is just going to be a day roost and from the looks of things a muddy one. If you plan to ride around with Ryan on this excrusion You should bring down the ole 2 smoker

Hey this thing is still on isn't it?

:clap It's absolutly on. 1pm on Sunday!! :clap

I usually ride the KLR650 - and ride it hard.

However, Sunday, I'll have the XT550 out, as I just put a new shock on it and want to test it out.

Sam'll be on his new 2-stroker.

    If Ed's there, he'll be on a DR650.

If Burtonridr shows, he's on an XT350.

HN will be on his new-to-him XL600.

So... the bottom line is that... if I were you, I'd be on the 2 stroke, because we're going to be getting into some tight, and maybe steep places. However, the beauty of Hemmingway, is that there is usually more than one route to any given destination... so there is always an 'easier' way to get where you're going.

Thanks everyone for the welcome. Now that I have the first post under my belt I'm sure I'll be posting more here. :D

Since this will be my first time at Hemmingway and riding with you guys I'll take the safe road and bring the 2 smoke which I don't mind droppin'.

Getting that out of the way will there be a meeting point? Directions?

And IF I'm there I'll be on my new-to-me DRZ, so I may be taking those "easier ways" depending on how well I adapt....:D

Talked to Ed today - he's not going to make it.

I'll post directions to where we're meeting, later tonight -- but it's just the parking lot of the Hemmingway OHV area. You can't miss it, because it's got a nice little hill climb at the base.

Sorry, family stuff. Weekends are hard for me. That's when everybody that needs my attention is off work. Also, should be snowing like hell (hell snow ?) in the mountains this weekend. That means some huge buck is about to cross paths with a small bullet. Look for my picture in the paper early next week. :evil

Take Highway 45 south out of Nampa, to Walter's Ferry. Cross over the Snake River. Just after you cross over the river, the road Y's. Go left. You're now traveling south on Highway 78. About a mile after the Y, you'll turn right on Upper Reynolds Creek Rd -- there will be a sign saying something to the effect of "Hemmingway OHV this way." Go down the road, past the 'cow farm' and to the OHV parking area. You can't miss it. There's a nice little hill climb right there at the lot, and you'll see an old XT550 flying around it.:nod

I think I'm in but the XR350 maybe the ride. 3 hrs until I would need to leave and I still need to change the front tire and do a couple other things on the DRZ if I'm going ride it.

I'm still in!! Cleaned the air filter and oiled the chain. Sounds like this is turning into a "classics ride". I'll be in a maroon Toyota Tundra with my classic '91 Suzuki RM250 with flourescent pink stickers and cool yellow and grey camo'd seat. :gerg

    I'll see you there.

I'll be there from the looks of things. I may let you "Hard Core" guys run off and see who is the "Last Man Standing" while I play in the kiddie pool.

You would have had fun Ed without being a hooligan. Lots of terrain to ride, no crowds and easy to navigate.

    Tell Heath to heal quickly.
