While having coffee and browsing USA Today I see a story on the new 007 flick, "Skyfall". The picture shows him sitting on a beat-up early KLR complete with IMS tank and ammo can panniers. I almost spit up my coffee! Apparently Bond knows a true battle weapon when he sees one!

A quick google search shows it to be a CRF250R:

"Daniel Craig as James Bond rides a Honda CRF250R in the new 007 movie Skyfall (2012), which will premier in London, UK on October 26. A total of twenty modified-for-stunts CRF250R were used in the making of the opening scenes of the movie which were shot earlier this year in Istanbul and Adana, Turkey. You’ll see James Bond on a Turkish merchant’s bike pursuing a villain who rides a stolen Turkish police Honda.

The bikes are now on display at the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu, United Kingdom as part of the Bond In Motion exhibition. "

Yeah, I have no doubt that the bikes they actually filmed in the action scenes weren't KLRs. I know my KLR won't do THAT!:eek1

But, I'm pretty damn sure that the picture in USA Today was a KLR. I couldn't find it online though.

And the moral of this thread is that it takes a lot of ugly paint to pass a Honda off as a KLR :pot

We all know people who bash KLR have never ridden or owned one. They got too much orange under their nose to smell the roses. :lol3

It's a fine machine. Except I got 4 other motorcycles collecting dust in the garage.

Stu, why did you make me waste perfectly good coffee?!? :lol3

Yeah, that ain't no KLR. Swing arm is wrong, forks WAY too fat. That said...I am avowed KLR rider. I love my pig.

Great conversations in any regard. :deal

KLR being the Rambler Ambassador of the motorcycle world. Have one me self.

It did look KLR-ish at first glance, admittedly. Golden milk crate joke quite priceless.

Perhaps another would have been "shaken but not stirred"

This is a complete hijack attempt, but related kinda!

For ADV bikes in movies lately have y'all seen the new Batman Rises? BMW plays a good role there with multilple GS's, 2 up, kidnapped passenger bank chase seen, was good! And suprised at the bike choice, but they were REALLY shiny, and not disguised at all, friggin advertising in movies?

    Heineken anyone? lol

Have every Bond movie (first 16 on VHS of course...) can't wait for Skyfall! Kick ass, and blow up a few Hondas? Win Win!:clap

For a guy as prepared as Bond, he sure isn't prepared for a crash. No ATGATT for 007.

Though, I guess Bond just doesn't crash!

I doubt he had time to gear up. He probably just stole the bike from an unsuspecting local when some baddies showed up.
