I was recently involved in a get-off on my F800 where I fractured my leg quite badly. http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=881550 At the time, I was wearing a pair of Sidi Adventure Gore-Tex Boots which certainly saved me from more injury. Had I not been wearing them, I would anticipate at least a compound fracture, with the potential for serious neuro vascular damage to my lower leg. The Medics cut my left boot off by making a cut in the inner membrane of the boot. Now, I feel that this is repairable and they said at the time it was unavoidable even though I begged them NOT to cut my boot. I'm wondering if an accident like I had could lead to a degradation in the structural integrity of the boot? We always say that replacement of a helmet is necessary after a get-off, but is it the same with a pair of boots? With being not able to work currently and looking to ride again, I don't know if I'll be able to afford another $500 for a replacement pair of Sidi's. Does the collective have any advice?
