    Good morning all,
A musician friend of one of my riding pals lives in Moab. He's riding a 2003 R1150R with over 35K miles that has not seen any kind of service since 10K miles!!!

After we both blasted him for neglecting the bike, he says he's not a mechanic but a musician. Does'nt know or care to learn the basics of maintenance, does not know of any BMW shops reasonably close.

My pal did a quick BMW dealer seach, could find nothing in that geograpical area.
Any of the inmates here have any ideas or knowledge of a qualified wrench or shop in the area????

    Thanks in advance,
    Dan Learned

Hope he is a good musician that earns a lot of money to fix his busted boxer when it breaks down from lack of servicing.

"Did you try the Anonymous book from BMW motorcycle owners association to see if there is someone in GJ."

No I hadn't because I was writing from work. Maybe I should keep one here in my desk since I've got at least a half dozen of them lying around.

Between the ADV and the MOA site, I've gotten replies of a combined KTM/BMW and a combined Harley/BMW shop in G. J. and a dealership in SLC.

Was kinda' hoping there was maybe in independent mech somewhat closer like Paul Glaves in Big Bend, Texas but maybe that's too much to hope for in the middle of nowhere??

+1 for Harry at Basin. From Moab, it's not much farther of a drive, and he's excellent.

I was going to say the same for Basin in Mancos. Haven't had to use them myself, but have heard lots of good things..plus he could incorporate that into a great loop ride!

Basin is good. Harry and his crew will help you out. It's only about 2 1/2 hours from Moab to Mancos, CO.
I think there is a small shop in Montrose, too.

I had Harry over for dinner the other day, and he said things are a little slow right now. He should be able to knock out a 36k fairly quickly. For those of you who haven't met him yet, he is one hell of a good guy, and a great mechanic too!

This past summer when riding some of the Utah Backcountry Discovery route near Moab I needed to get my little GS serviced and rode over to the BMW/HD dealership in Grand Juction. They treated me very well and their work was spot on. Probably one of the better BMW or Harley shops that I have had the opportunity to utilize in my 50+ years of motorcycle ownership. Based on my experience I would recommend them. By the way, I spent most of my youth in Escondido and was checking out the dirt roads around Southern Utah after visiting family out there and was on my ride back to upstate NY where I now live.

Just take it to Harry at Basin, save the time searching and you wont have to worry about the quality of the workmanship. He is excellent.
