I, along with 3 other fellow riders are spending 3 nights in Breckenridge starting Sunday July 23rd. We are hoping for a fellow local to recommend a couple day loops (100- 150 miles) out of Breck that offers beautiful scenery. We are riding small street legal dual sports with the largest being a honda 650l. We don't have a preference of trail types but just want to see the best of the best of the area. Suggestions are requested and rewarded with beer if you choose to meet up during our stay. We are spending the previous 3 nights in Steamboat for West Fest and would like to see another part of Colorado during our trip. We are flat landers from Indiana and looking forward to breathtaking scenery. Thanks in advance.

    PS
Sunday afternoon we were thinking of riding to the top of peak 10 because we have just a half day. Is that a worthwhile excursion?

My brother and I rode boreas pass (dirt) on Sunday up to Breck. Lunch at the brew pub there. Be wary of cages. Our starting point was stoney pass road (dirt) . Small (but fun) water crossing. you could do it in reverse. I will find some additional dirt to make up the return to Breck and will PM you.

Sevoman, Thank you for your help. We really appreciate it. What do you mean wary of cages? How long and how many miles did you ride? Hoping to find a couple of routes with lunch stops midway.

Does anyone know if it is possible to ride dualsport to the top of Mt. Bross, Mt. Democrat, and Mt. Lincoln? I'm finding trail maps for a loop linking the peaks but uncertain if it is legal to do so on a motorcycle.

Car=cage. Watch out for cars coming around blind turns at high rates of speed. I rode 100-150 miles. Plan lunch stops along the way. As an example we rode boreas pass (dirt) and made our way to the Breckinridge brewery for lunch. The Colorado back country discovery route map is a good resource. Lots of info on gas stations etc. the other (larger) resource is the Colorado Benchmark atlas. Very detailed with dirt clearly identified.

Thanks for the reply. I feel stupid, should've known the cage reference.

You should also ride to the top of Mt. Evans The road is paved (although mostly shitty). But you get to the summit @ 14200 ft. Pretty cool view and there is an old observatory up there. It blew up in a propane explosion in the 70's or 80's i think but they've made it a little historic type deal. There is a little bit of a rock climb (by hand and feet) that could get you roughly another 200 or so ft up. Its by Idaho springs. Not too far away from Breck. Take loveland pass down to I-70 and head towards denver you'll see signs shortly.
