Leaving here from Stratford on Friday morning. Hopefully via the Great Alpine rd to Omeo, then on to Anglers Rest, Falls Creek, (all depends on where the fires are.)

Booked into the Bright hotel/motel from Friday till Monday.

You won't believe how big the Bright Brewery has expanded from last year:clap

Will have a very iconic Oz travelling companion with me:wink:

    One perfect day.

    G/day Baz,

The fire is still not under control, its between Harritville and Mt Hotham. We lost 2 firefighters yesterday:cry:cry, when a tree fell onto their vehicle.
The Great Alpine road is closed from Omeo to about Bright. So to is the Dargo High Plains and probably the Dogs Grave track.
The fire could go anywhere, depends on the winds and we are heading for a very hot weekend with Monday being the most dangerous.

If you are coming down for the Supers next weekend, I would be planning on coming down the Bonung or the Cann river roads. I rode the Bonung to the McKillops Bridge turnoff then to Seldom Seen, Bruthen, Bainsdale on Tuesday, roads are in very good condition. Hilly road the entire Bonung last Sunday and it is also in very good condition.

    G/day UncleGra,

As you well know, thats the High Country for you. Today here in Stratford probably less then 150k's as the crow flies from the Bonong, it was just hot and humid. Spoke to Beet this evening, he is in the Keiwa valley, and he had one hellva downpour today.

catch you on the road some day!

Its a legacy of Suzukis 2 stroke heritage. Way back then, they'd have 2 plug heads, but one lead, so when you fouled a plug, move the lead to the other plug and keep going. Of course the other one was usually carboned up too, so no real advantage, but the designers still liked the idea and its prevailed on the 2012 DR with a spare coil and lead too. Obviously well anticipated because they saw Unc coming :evil

So, been there and done that. Great weekend's entertainment and we'll be back next year for sure, some inspirational stuff, although I'm not sure I want to replicate any of John Muir's adventures. Walked across Australia unsupported, to both poles, survived a dunking in the Arctic Ocean, numerous Everest ascents, etc etc.
