Your jimmy'd fix looks just like the change I made on my 06 before I even rode it
for the first time. Kinda dumb place to hang a bulky fuel valve if ya ask me.:tb
Now - your fall is proof positive. :cry

Poor location for a fuel valve.
I just run a line between the 2 inner shutoff valves with a FloPro quick disconnect
on each side and but a "T" in the middle to the carb. You do
loose the reserve supply but I use the lowfuel light on
the speedo and reset one of the trip milage displays to 0 when I fill up as I know
close to number of miles I get on a tank and then just select the reset
trip odo when I need to check. I have not been stranded yet. :kurt

Why didn't KTM but in a 90 deg curved stand pipe and mount that thing on
the inner side of the tank where it should have been?????????? :shog

I have read of a couple of folks who managed to get the petcock. It makes most worry, but it is fairly rare. There are aftermarket parts that protect it, but most are expensive. Check the index for them.

I had an '01 Adventure and broke the petcock off TWICE!! :huh

The first time it happened I was in the middle of nowhere. I ended plugging the hole with some old tire tube (gasket) and a rectangular piece of plastic that I cut out of a Coke crate. I punched 2 holes into with my leatherman tool, and bolted it up to the tank. Then I folded the gas lines over and zip tied them --> No leaks!

It worked great and I rode the bike for months like that. Just used the valve on the right side of the tank. You have to tip the bike over occassionaly if you're getting low on gas but no big deal.

The price of the OEM petcock was RIDICULOUSLY over priced - big surprise. I found an aftermarket petcock in a Parts Canada book that bolted right up and was a fraction of the cost.

I snapped the second one off and luckily I had the "patch kit" in my tool kit for a quick repair...and that was the last petcock I bought...

I may just do that as this first break sure didn't take me long to do or maybe I was just 'lucky' :dunno

I would suggest to remove the petcock in your garage rather than on the trail.:nod

As noted above, throw it away and replace with a $1 aluminum plate.
