is this suddenly a new issue?
As old as some of the ravens defense guys are they'll have to wear oxygen tanks on the field, i wanna see the broncos win and Manning go to the super bowl
Good question. The short answer is "no." The Patriots in '87 brought the team to the Air Force Academy the Tuesday before their playoff game against the Broncos. Team doctors told them that people need at least three to four days to acclimate to the climate. That decision was made by Raymond Berry who played against them in the '60's and felt the altitude was indeed a factor in player performance. He conducted team meetings and practices using the AFA's football facilities.
Did it help? I think so. The Patriots had a good team that year and were QB'd by Tony Eason. They played well until late when he threw a pick six IIRC.
From my perspective it should all come down to physical fitness and since we're talking about professional athletes one would think they wouldn't require an adjustment.
On the other hand I can tell you that it would be better to arrive the day of the game and play rather than arrive the day before. I'm no physician or sports med guru but deal with many people who fly into CO, conduct business, and fly out the same day. People who do that don't suffer the effects of the altitude. Those who fly up and spend a few days visiting clients notice the effects by day two and by day three it really hits them.
i could barely climb the steps of your capital without stopping for a breath when i was out there
A steady diet of beer and brats will do that to you.....
It is a combination of altitude AND low humidity that get you here. You drink a ton of fluid, you just piss it all out and your body can't absorb it fast enough. It will be a factor for the Ravens toward the end of the first half and then again in the fourth quarter. They'll have to substitute a lot, and there will be confusion.
Nope..looks like it might be interesting! Go Broncos!
Wow - crazy game. Fumble negated by penalty..
It's 12:41 am here, but I'm watching :) And a little PUI :)
Champ Bailey needs to stop getting his ass kicked.
Trindon Holliday wears the same number as the great Karl Heinz Rummunigge for Germany in the1970's. Coincidence? Yes, I think so.
Baltimore gets the ball. Good call. Denver is disadvantaged by playing in KTM colours.
Rice to the 4 on the first play. Are these games rigged?
Where is Jurgen when you need an insightful comment?
Does Denver have a running game?
Crap - sack.
btw - Front range folks are cool, but I've yet to meet anyone from Salida that can ride. Just saying. (except Tammi) :) )
Have to say - Flacco is a good QB...
edit - against Ravens
7 minutes - that's a lot of time to go....
