I meant wouldn't work so well as a ice bike.
But you should buy it and sink $2500 into it and we will see what you end up with.

A $3000 bike I would stand next to drinking beer while watching you's guys ride the ice. Tried it a couple of years ago and wasn't very comfortable. OK, I was/am a wuss. :freaky

I think it's cuz you rode the Eyeball on a set of cast off home built tires. Hell, I only rode that thing once on the ice too.

Would my fictitious $3000 ice racer be any better?

Orders of magnitude better, the eyeball is the worst ice bike I have ever ridden, I think the worst bit was the tires, even a worn out set of pro builts would be a million times better.

No matter what to do to it, it's still going to be a 1972 Honda 250.

Understood. In actuality I have no intentions of doing anything with this. Ice riding isn't really my bag. It is fun to come out and drink beer with the morans though.

Anybody know what the ice conditions are at the south end of Winnebago?

The only folks more worried about the conditions on the big pond are the fishermen and they report their findings on this site.

I drove by Pete's last week and it looked really rough for a couple hundred yards out. I'm not checking depth for a bit yet, but this weekend should offer some good ice making weather.

I spose I should try to get the bikes ready.

And my students told me today that all the winny ice is on the east shore in piles! Open water. And, the Eye ball was on trashed out pro built s (rear at least)

Took a look at Winnebago today. Location was East side mid way up the lake from the top of the ledge. It sure didn't look piled and there were only a few open holes. 90% froze over. Not sure how it is down by Fondy though.

So where is everyone riding this weekend? With the weather we are having there is no reason not to ride!
