Find a close enough matching strap (one with the exact same buckle brand would be best, but possibly hard to find). I happen to have a bunch of similar ones around. Mine were longer than needed, but it's easy to cut them down when you determine correct size. 1 foot is probably minimum, 1.5 probably close to right, longer if you want to strap stuff on top. in this case the two ends here wouldn't actually snap together since the are different brands. I've swapped out the female end with the one on the bag starp and now the two straps buckle together, but not to each other as original. This is where it would be nice to get exactly the same buckle (Scribe, any chance we can source them from you?) Push the strap up from the bottom of the Dring and then pust the two ends up through the loop and cinch tight at appropriate lengths. The buckles can now be attached and undone to open the bags without having to rethread the straps through the Dring, and you have enough strap to over stuff the bags if needed and still secure them.
