any good big bike trails around Buckman? I’ve explored all over northern NM but never there.

Atom, most of the area around Buckman is single track with a few power line roads (steep and rutted) and not real big bike friendly IMO. The main Buckman Rd. down to the river is cool but is an out and back. Not much else around in the area unless you go further south and ride the Caja del Rio.

Right on man. That’s kinda what I figured.
Been exploring the heck out of the high country lately due to no snow. But this last little storm dropped a bit up high so was looking for lower elevation fun.
Might have try the Caja del Rio, haven’t got that yet.
    Thanks again....

Ditto what NMTB said. Not a lot out there.

Dunno how low the snow came but there are MILES of big bike friendly exploring to be had east of Truchas.

Ya that’s my backyard. So much good stuff there. Truchas got a dusting of snow so I bet higher up it’s getting a little squirrly. Went way back in there last Sunday and had a blast.
I bet there is some cool stuff on the East side of the Truchas peaks. I need to explore the whole East Pecos/Las Vegas area more...

You can get to some of the easier roads if you start at the Buffalo Thunder exit on 285 and take blackfether out and west to Powow road. That puts you on the easy part (more BB friendly). Just ride it south all the way to CDR. I used to be able to take it all the way to Madrid before they closed LaBj.
